B1 Service at Dealer vs. local shop
It seems to me that $180 or whatever it ends up costing at the dealer for B1 service is kind of a rip off for oil change/tire rotation/bunch of inspections. Do a lot of people have this done at another local shop? How much do you end up paying?

wow...that's a huge rip off from the dealer. Mine was only $80 and I swore that I will never do it again. You can check your own brakes, and your parking brake is probably fine unless you think something is wrong. I'll bet that the mechanic won't even glance at any of the "inspections" listed under the B1 service.
Do the rotation yourself or take it to Pepboys for only $9.99 instead of $30-$40 the dealer charges.
So what I do now is just the oil change when I get my car service at the dealer!

Agreed...would rather spend the difference on an extra tranny fluid change and/or an alignment here and there. Those Type 4 (as they are called in Canada) services are ridiculously expensive.

For that type of service, I'd call and ask them what they charge for just an oil change and tire rotation. It's probably way less than if you ask for a B1 service.

I think I'm just going to go with a $16.99 oil change with free tire rotation at Firestone. I'll just ask them to take a look at the brakes while they're changing the tires. I don't even think I could buy the oil/filter that cheaply and do it myself.
