Aux adapter SNHOND3 installation question

I rec'd the unit from logjam and attempted to install it last night. Hooking it up was a snap. Removed and unplugged the cassette deck, plugged in the Soundgate, fired it up - no luck. It appears like the HU doesn't know the adapter is there. I play a CD, then press the CD/AUX button, and nothing changes, the CD keeps playing, no change to the display. I tried connecting both an MP3 player and an MD player to the adapter's inputs, didn't matter.

Reconnecting the tape player and everything is back to normal. CD/AUX switch toggles between CD and tape player.

Spoke with Soundgate today and the tech said "not all TSX radios can control CD changers and thus may not work with this adapter". Hmmm. I don't recall anyone having this issue with their unit, so I'm not fully satisfied with that answer. He also suggested disconnecting the battery for a minute, hooking everything back up, and then reconnecting power. Of course, I'll need to enter the radio security code. Hopefully eveything will work. Will try tonight.

Has anyone gone through this process with their SNHOND3? My '04 has the non-nav radio.

Nope, I plugged mine in and it worked instantly. Did you say this is a reconditioned unit in your first line?

Same here, I plugged mine in ('04 non-nav) and it worked perfectly (connected to a Delphi Roady2 XM tuner) the first time. Maybe you just got a defective one.

Did you turn the ignition off and back on?
And also do the same with the HU.

I bet you probably tried it, but just though I would mention it just in case.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Will try the battery thingie tonight and post my results. This is a brand new unit, so not expecting it to be DOA.

Somewhat periodically, my blitzsafe unit for ipod doesn't work - aux button doesn't switch to the unit. I then turn off the car and restart and it works. Does this every happen to anyone else? Is there anything that can be done about it?

Well, I tried the battery dis-re-connect last night and no change. HU still doesn't seem to know it's there, so back it goes for replacement. Hopefully the next one will work. How much was the Blitzsafe unit and where best to buy, just in case?

The one I bought was specifically for an iPod (it also charges the unit). It cost $70 plus shipping at enfig.com. They also sell a more universal model that has left and right jacks.

Soundgate SNHOND3 problem solved

I received the replacement unit yesterday from Logjam and I think I figured out what the problem is with my unit, and probably all the defective units out there. I compared the wiring of the original cable and the new cable that came with the replacement unit and they are different! A red and white wire are swapped on the radio-side connector. After noting this, I installed the new cable and unit, and lo and behold, everything works fine. No battery disconnect or anything needed. So, if you are having trouble with your unit, it's probably the cable wiring. Ask for a new one and you should be ok. I'll try and get the exact pinout info on which two wire were swapped when I get a chance.

Hey, I'm looking to get one as well, where are you picking yours up?

Are you doing the install yourself?

Let me know

From what I've read, it's just a straight plug-and-play. I'll probably be buying it from KHF (Kennedy HiFi), ianS said they can get it as well:

KHF Car Audio & Performance Products

Scarborough, ON M1P 2N9
Tel. : 416-752-2066

When I get my short shifter and metal shifter bushings, I'll probably install the SNHOND3 at the same time by myself.

They're pretty expensive locally. LogJam has it for $99 USD, if you can get someone in the US to get it for you and ship to Canada it would be much cheaper even with mail and exchange rate.
