Auto vs Manual?

I am thinking about buying a 2005 tsx but i am debating on the manual or automatic. I had 2 cars before and they were both manual. Just wanted to know if anybody drove both and which one did they like better.

Welcome to the site, albertski.

Remember to use the search feature. In this case, you'll probably find a wealth of information as this subject has been debated a few times before. You might find good stuff in there as well.

Good luck!

I went with the manual. It's the first car I've ever had with a manual, but I've driven several of my friends'. I love it. I wouldn't have the TSX with an auto.

if you do a lot of stop and go traffic you might consider AT, if you want a little extra power and the nifty 6 speed the MT is great.

For your question the best thing to do is search. This particular topic has been discussed to death and then some. Test drive, decide what kind of driving you do and what you like. Know that the 6 speed in the TSX is one of the best manual trannies around but the AT with sportshift is also fun and much easier on the left leg/foot in stop-n-go conditions.

Both transmission are great it really depends on the driver on preference of 6MT or Auto. I've driven a manual for 14 years and I couldn't see myself going back to an automatic.

The manual is more fun. The automatic, more convenient (and slightly better gas mileage).

I have never drove a manual before, but my friend took me for a lesson today on his G35 Coupe. Very nice and gutsy of him. I did pretty well, and actually drove down a major road with traffic while being behind the wheel for only an hour. Does anybody know how similiar the G35 manual transmission is compared to the TSX?

The TSX's manaul is the best in the biz. Just a notch below the one in the S2K. Or so I've been told.

So it should be far better than the one in the G35.

Ok thanks, because the G35 was a little touchy, and it was taking me a long hard time to nail down a dead stop to 1st Gear.

Let me add one more input.

I drove the AT TSX as my loaner and to my surprise it wasn't "significantly" slower than the manual as many of us here claims.

The difference is very subtle, however my recommendation is still MT, that is unless you commute through stop-and-go frequently.

I bet I could outdrive most 6MT owners with my 5AT. That SS is badass once you learn its limits. So I may burn a little more gas in a slightly lower gear. I would beat you to the finish.

MT is really good for the sense of having control over the car. I only owned ONE auto trans car in my life and swear will NEVER go back to it. Plus, with the way I drive, most AT don't take it too well (autoX and all).
