Auto Start Issue

I got my Autostart from Acura Dealer. Anyway the program should be lock unlock lock on the Acura Remote. I press lock twice to hear the BEEP to make sure all doors are locked...but the car starts up itself. Do I have to go back to the dealership (might I add is so damn far away) or can I just like reset all of it by like disconnecting the battery cable or something?

It is a package with the LoJack system. The Auto start system... not much I know about except that instead of the valet key(gray) they give you a remote.

I'm willing to bet that this is an aftermarket system. Just like lojack is. You may be buying these things from an Acura Dealer. But i doubt that these are factory options. Especially remote starts, I'm pretty sure that it's an aftermarket part that's integrated with your factory remote.

Depending on the brand, some after market remote starts are REALLY REALLY crappy.

It's entirely possible. The DBW system doesn't affect the starting sequence any. The only problem is with MTs to ensure that you can't start the car unless the car is out of gear.

"lock unlock lock" to start is BS that they tell you. i've installed many remote starts; most recently in my 05 tsx 6spd. to start you only need to press lock twice on the remote. what it is that it uses two pulses from the lock wire to remote start. go back and ask them if they can program it to use 3 pulses instead of two. that way if you press the lock key twice it won't start. for it to start you have to press lock three times.

Who knows whose product they used and who it is installed.

DEE (Viper/Python/AutoMate/Clifford) makes a system that starts off of 3 locks. I don't know about the others. Gonna have to talk to the dealer. Dealer doesn't do won isntalls - see if you can get ph no of installer "expeditor" - co. that does installs for dealer. They can help youfar more than dealer can...

i dont understand y anyone would want to program an autostart by pressing the lock button...wouldnt it be better use the UNlock button? isnt it annoying to start the car and lock the doors and then having to unlock the car again to get in?

Probably to prevent you from leaving the car unlocked and running while you are waiting for it to warm up. Would make it pretty easy for a thief to hop in and go.

Tell me you ain't serious dude... do you want your car driven away by anyone who walks by your remoted-started car? Well, there's usually a safty lockout (you still need to insert key and turn to ON before actually driving off)... but at the very least, when using remote start to warm the car up in Winter out on the street, you would want the car still locked while it runs and warms up...

Valet is DEI/Directed/Viper/Clifford/Python/etc.

That unit can be programmed for how to trigger it - a couple of locks in succession, etc.

As far as what happens when you trigger it, the list of requests is a long one.

hmm speaking about autonomous things, i take it this can be added to an alarm. are there alarm brands out there that allow to you add more senors easily, like strobe lights n piezzos? id like to do something of that sort cuz id like to have strobe lights on my car for those random show asethic things but if they had a function to it, that would be alot better

ok guys, why would you want to use the OEM remote anyway. first of all it only works about 5 feet away from the car. i thought remote start is suppose to be a convience. so tell me, what's the point of having it if you can only start it from 5 feet away? just say on a very cold day you're getting off of work, you have to run outside closer to the car to start it then run back inside and wait for it to warm up? that's why i love my Compustar so much.... i can start it from like a mile away and if someone sets off the alarm, it pages me. oh yeah, i think the remote for my compustar is way cooler then OEM.

All remote starts that I've seen won't let you drive off without the key. The engine gets turned off if the break is pressed or if the revs go above 1k (on my Jeep anyway). You still need the key in the ignition to drive off.

I'd assume the reason it's on lock button is to prevent someone from TRYING to steal your car, then getting pissed and stealing everything inside.

Just a thought.

for those of you complaining about the door not unlock.....the dealer showed me this neat trick, if u hit unlock then lock-lock-lock ( to start the car) and then unlock quickly, it will unlock the driver door as well.

if you press unlock once no matter what the drivers door only unlocks. that works normally

*PROBLEM SOLVED*
- If you guys had the same problem I had with the beep, make sure all windows are closed all the way, then press lock twice
-LOCK LOCK LOCK UNLOCK works very well as it unlocks the car doors and starts the car at the same time
-Auto Start is made by DEI, thats what the Acura dealers seem to be using.
-combinations for starting the car so far are either lock unlock lock
lock lock
lock lock lock unlock
