Auto Dim Mirror

How can you tell if the autodim mirror is working? I cant seem to see that much of a difference if its on or off. Is it that noticable or could there be something wrong with mine?

It dims.

Jokes aside, there is a huge difference when it's enabled and disabled.

Try the following: Go in your car at night and disable the Auto dimmer and turn the courtesy lights on. Then enable the Auto dimmer, you'll see a huge difference. Same applies when there are SUVs, Trucks or any other vehicle that may have the lights on too bright in the highway.

you might need your eyes checked if you can't tell. ask a friend w/ hids to park his car about 15 ft behind yours and see if you can tell.

Is the auto-dim rearview mirror standard equipment? Or is it optional?

I'm having a hard time noticing a difference in my TSX.
My wife's Camry has a similar mirror(but also includes a compass) and in that car I can easily tell that it's dimming.
Maybe I'm still too much in awe with my car to notice anything

try putting a piece of electrical tape over the back sensor on the mirror and shine a flashlight directly on the front sensor. If that doesn't make it dim, then you've got a problem...

you can make it dim during the day if you hold your finger over the hole in the side that faces the windshield. it takes about 30 seconds and you should see it turn dark green. the green power light on the front has to be on

Actually I don't notice it all that much either. I can see the greenish tinge, but it's only a slight improvement. Besides, if they're sitting right behind you they tend to show up in the side mirrors anyway. Why don't we have autodimming side mirrors?? :P

you can take a flashlight and shine into the mirror.

you should see the mirror fade to a greensih color. also, i think the mirror has an auto switch, which activates the mirror.

i love auto dim! it's so cool!

I hate the autodim, i wish it was standard on the OFF button, not on the ON button.

It's better than having to flip the tab on those ghetto mirrors.

I like that when there are no cars, the mirror goes back to normal and enables you to see the road with a lot more detail, as opposed to the "ghetto" type mirrors where when you have them on dim, you can't see shit.
