Anyone traded in an 05?

Looking to trade my in here in a bit and was wondering what folks have been getting for their 2005 TSX's. (With or without navigation, I would be curious to know either way)

Dealer here offered $22,000 on my 05 non-nav 5AT, which is pretty weak if you compare to KBB or even NADA.

...The dealers around here seem to be particularly smug for some reason. "Oh yeah we'll give you crap for your trade in and expect you to pay MSRP if you want to buy a new one." is the basic idea.

In a pig's butt maybe.

What do you plan on getting in place of it?

try selling in the local paper or autotrader. You have to understand that the dealers have to make money off of these used cars so they arent going ot give you a good price and i dont think 22,000 for anm 05 trad in is that bad, it seems its about righ ton par with where it should be. Your always gonna get below blue book for a trade in, thats common knowledge, private party value cant be used when trading in, it just isnt the same

Private Sale is great if you have the time. I sold my 1989 BMW 325i for top dollar. Would've gotten 50% less at the dealership. Only problem, my TSX was late by 2 weeks back in 2003.

I'm gunning for an 07 6mt with Nav.

Problem I think is one of timing at this point I think. All the dealers are trying to unload the 06's before they will budge much on the 07's. I think January or Feb might change their tune some?

Actually The NADA and KBB figures were specifically for dealer trade in (as opposed to private party sale or retail price.)

Dealerships annoy me I guess. I dont know why it hasnt come about yet that you could buy direct from the manufacturer at a "fair" no-haggle price.

When did the better deals on the 06's start showing up?

Try Saturn and Scion, I believe they have "no haggle" pricing

i sold my '05 last month.....$23,900 (private party), although it did have nav. it had a few scrapes from parking and whatnot, so i had to lower the price a little.

I intend to hold on to my '05 tsx until the next generation TSX (Sports 4) or the lexus IS500 comes to production. I will also never buy the first year model of any new car. Probably wait until atleast the 2nd or 3rd year.

Weak, are you out of your mind. That is a decent value. Because your car is 2 years old and you can buy a brand new 06 non navigation for $25,000. If they buy your car for $22,000 they will have to put money into it to certify it and put it through smog and safety. Plus to make it look good for the line. KBB doesnt take into consideration the market and inscentives that are going on. Its just a guide to help you. Thats it.

Actually it looks like some of you guys are right...22,000 wasnt that far out of the ball park. Looks like I was a little out to lunch on what I should get for it (stupid high).

I checked out Edmunds.com's TMV (True market value) pricing tool and my trade came in at $22,500'ish for an 05 Non-nav, which is based on actual sales and purchase data from my geographic area. pretty cool

But is theere really a need to upgrade from an 05 to an 07? I don't see the point. Save some money and pick up an 08/09. Or an entirely different car altogether.

ive got a lease im going to be trading in early. when you do that you have to stick with either honda or acura if you want to avoid the early termination crap. Ill be doing 72 mo financing and getting off the lease program.

really the only honda vehicle id even bother with is the S2000, but its too spendy and impractical for daily use, And everything else in the Acura lineup is way outta my price range or doesnt interest me. The TSX is the only logical choice. (besides that I like this style and size of vehicle in general.)

the 2009 TSX i dont want to wait for...thats at least 1.5 years off. Probably more like 2.

I was going to ask if it was a lease. That changes everything.

Let me ask you a question would you pay $22,500 for a tsx non navigation when you can buy a brand new 2006 tsx non navigation for $25,100. With less than 50 miles, blue tooth, seat memory, MID, passenger power seat and fog lights. Ohh yeah and full warranty.

Yes you can. There is a lease payoff amount just like there's a payoff amount on regular financing. You compare it to the book value of the car and see where you sit. In this situation its viturally no different than if I had financed the car.

Then I'm sure you realized you were comparing a trade in value to a new car price in that last post you made...
