Anyone find thebackup lights rather weak?

Compared to my previous car - the back up light does not seem to light up the street as well (when backing up) - does anyone feel the same?

Any solutions?

I never knew the back up lights were there to light up the street. I thought they were an indicator to let other drivers know that you are going in reverse.
I have never stood outside my car to look at how bright the lights are either.

Absolutely! Dimmest backup light of any car that I have owned -- or driven at night. However, I think that the rear glass cuts out more light than on many cars. That certainly helps in bright sun, but not at night.

I have no solution, but I will check into other bulbs that might provide more light. I wonder if I could mount an aux. light (like a clear foglight) under the rear of the car and tap into the wire that feeds the backup lights. Being lower would probably help.

In my opinion, the lighting on the TSX is weak; both interior and exterior -- and is one area that needs more attention.

Why would u want brighter back-up lights? To blind people when you back-up from parking spots?

U can try LEDs .... they are are good rreplacements but bright as heck...

LED's are far worse than bulbs.

Back on the old Blue LED thread this came up and since then I've been toying around with the idea.

The interior lighting inside the TSX is the best I've had on any car. It is bright during the day and at night, I don't see how the lighting could possibly be weak inside.
As far as the outside, how much brighter do you want your headlights to be? I get high beamed by passing motorists all the damn time they're so bright.

They just don't put out enough light. There were a number of members who changed their reverse lights to leds and they said they couldn't see anything.

I think someone used the 15-leds Matrix from autolumination and they said it was really bright. I'm gonna try these out in the springtime.

In previous vehicles I used to use these: http://www.designtech-intl.com:8080/...atid=12&step=4

Unfortunately, only available for larger 1156 and 3156 bulbs. Not made to replace 7443s like the ones in our cars.

I do miss the bright light illuminating the area behind the car.

It is whiter than the regular bulb. But is it brighter than the regular bulb? It does not say.

I have to back down a long curved driveway in a sub-division with no street lights.

You're right, it doesn't. I was hoping someone had tried them and could comment. I, too, have to back down a cruved, tree-lined driveway and need bright backup lights. What I was really looking for was some halogen replacement bulbs for the backup lights. I had some on a pickup and they were much brighter but I havent found any in the size for the TSX. The search continues.

Just get some Super White Piaa Bulbs, I used to have them on my Integra as reverse lights and it made a big difference.

A standard 7440 is 21w. The PIAAs and some others are 27w. Should be approximately 25% brighter BUT the color coating on the bulb tends to cut the "nautral" light level, so I suspect that's it's pretty much a wash.

Our reverse bulbs are 7440 not 7443, BTW. My mistake earlier.

call me negetive but I have never in my life heard of someone bringing up the issue of how bright or dim your reverse light bulbs are... I think that may be a sign that you have become obsessive over the car in general. more power to you i guess?

I never knew/thought your reverse lights were supposed to light up your rear end so you can see; always assumed they just let people behind you know to watch out...

Part of the reason they are clear white lights is to give you greater visibilities. Many larger vehicles have actual headlight type assemblies mounted back there.

It makes a difference if you're in a dark and unlighted area.

yeah i realized the reason theyre white is to give you better visibility, but what i really meant was that i never knew them to be bright enough (on any car really) where they are meant to give you any in depth visibility that you would rely on when reversing. Yes it lights up the car behind you if your parallel parking but i never thought it would be an issue of how bright or dim the lights are. nothing wrong with the observation, dont get me wrong, i have just now literally heard about every comment one can make about a car. lol.

When i test drove the tsx i was like oh god, people on the mb are going to have a field day with this 'not an ashtray' sticker. low and behold there was liek 5 threads on it at one point discussing how to remove it, what it means, why is it there, coverups.

not mocking anyone, just think its funny.

lol, well my rear end lights up with a disco ball

someone should install strobes in the reverse lights, and put them on when someone is walking behind the car to see how freaked out they get.

but that would be wrong...
