Anybody else finding the starter a bit harsh?
Hi Gang,
I have 200KM on my 06 TSX and I have driven 3 different TSXs in total. In all of them I found the starter very harsh and noisy. In fact my 99 Civic and our 93 Camry are much smoother as I turn the ignition on them.
I'm writing a review on TSX somewhere and I have to list a few CONS of the car. Thought I'd add this one too.
Thanks

I'd do a search before listing it as a con in a review. It's even written up in the owner's manual.

yeah thanks guys, I'm not going to list it in the CON list as it really isn't something to be concerned about. I'm very used to Honda's quick and smooth start, and that's why I was surprised by TSX's hesitant roll.

Also the TSX engine has a long stroke, this makes it harder to start.
99 mm stroke in the TSX vs. the 86 in the TL.
The 1986 Legends was 75 mm

apparently it's a function of the ECU to keep the car from starting quickly helping to reduce emissions...
I would think that changing the battery wouldn't make it start quicker, as the ECU is what controls the car's start...

I've had starters before, and I've found them all to be harsh, if what you mean that it seems like the engine jumps roughly on the mounts when you start it from the keys.

It would be nice if the all new TSX would have a push button start.

You beat me to it. The long stoke produces better low-end power, but come at the expense of smooth starting and ability to rev without power dropping.
You could always get a stroker kit.

Do you have the 2.4L or 2.0L in your AUDM 2006?

I thought the same thing, only AFTER I bought the car. I never noticed it when I was at the dealer test driving any of the cars - but that could be because they often have it running before I get in.
