Another rant, TSX V6/V8
Possibilities?
C-Class is getting 5.5L V8 for it's next AMG version
S4 is using a 4.3 V8 and it's out now.
M3 still has in-line 6 but for how long?
Will TSX step up to the challenge or will this be the job of TL?
Discuss.

M3 is like $60K plus. How can you compare? LOL
Imagine you buy a TSX, $30K. Then use the extra $30K to do extreme performance modifications on your car.......I am talking about Turbo, NOS, cylinder head porting, change the whole valatrain, engine balancing and much more................I can bet you, you can surely smoke the BMW M3!
$30K is alot of mods!

The M3, and similar cars get sports car performance while at the same time maintaining a civil ride (which your car wont), staying emissions compliant (which your car surely wont be), staying reliable (which your car surely wont be), etc.

if you really care about speed and power, and that's all you care about, then you have bought the wrong car, imho. i am just not getting all of this "i want to kick the Evo/Wrx's/SVT's/whatever's ass off the line" that i'm hearing lately. the fact that your car's specs say 200+ hp does not mean you can take it to the drag strip and get at 13 second quarter mile time slip.
if you care about what people are really doing to get racing/quickness/performance out of a Honda/Acura, then get yourself to an Honda Challenge race, and sit there and chat with some of the guys tuning their cars about things like what a b-series can really do in a light CRX frame (or even the spec Miata Challenge, if that's your thing).

Don't expect a V8 from Honda in a production car in your lifetime, it doesn't fit their corporate image and it's just not a necessity. And if gas prices do a little more than continue to steadily creep up, MB, VW-Audi and the others will be dropping V8's real quick and finding more efficient ways to make their little sedans go fast. Personally, I think a V8 in an entry level sports sedan is a lame concept. Why would anyone pay, what is it, $45K for a souped up A4, when they could get a (admittedly stripped) 5 series or A6 or better yet, MDX or TL? And if you're looking for style points (which factors big in a luxury car purchase, let's be honest), an S4 is still just an A4 to most of your uniformed fellow motorists.

I do agree that 99% of people would not be able to tell them apart from an A4 if not for the badge.

I would take an S4 over an A6, 5 series, MDX, or TL without a moments hesitation. (the 5 series might make me think about it if it was the v8).

Power and performance are not things Acura are concerned with, if you expect that from an automaker, look elsewhere... there will not be V8's, Forced Induction or RWD, AWD is still a long ways off for Honda/ACura..

But that M3's i6 just smoked that S4' V8 in the last comparison. If you look at the points, the M3 beat the pants off of the S4, but then they factored in a "value" rating an since the S4 was $6,000 less, it put it in 1st place. However, performance wise, that i6 beat the v8.

This is just an interesting trend I've observed. The big boys are ditching Supercharger and Blowers and went with V8s.

However, I agree with what people are saying...you want performance, get a '92 Mustang, add $5K of mods and you have a 400 hp RWD car you can drag with.

The S4 is a terrific car but I'm not a "pocket rocket" guy and have no need for a tiny car with a huge motor stuffed in it. The A6 offers more room, comfort, etc, for similar or slightly less bucks than the S4 (A4). And with the exception of us gearheads, you'll merely draw laughs from people when you tell them you spent so much for such a small car, regardless of how quick it is.

S4: Longitudinal engine, RWD..... Edit: I mean.....AWD
M3: Longitudinal engine, RWD
TSX: Transverse engine, FWD
There is no room in the TSX's engine bay to put a large engine. Making it a longitudinal mount would require a whole new chassis (same for TL). IF Honda were to come out with a chassis suitable for a longitudinal engine and RWD, they could fit a V-8 in there.....but they'll never make a V-8 in the first place, so just forget it. Sorry.

Word to the Silly Thread of the Week nomination
If you want a drag car. Get a CRX and a B20 Frankenstein engine. If you want autocross handling, again CRX.
Not comfortable enough? Get some better Sparcos or Recaros
