Another moleskin question

For those of you that tinted your windows..... did anyone install the moleskin themselves? I've looked at the pictures under the FAQ posts for removing door panels. I'm not sure I need to unplug all the electrical connections to remove the door panel. On my '04 TL, all I had to do was remove four screws and pop the eight plugs out. Then just lift the panel up off the door lock button and rest it on a stool. Pop the wiper assembly off and clean and fasten the moleskin. Pretty easy.
The instructions for the TSX look a lot more involved and intimidating.
So, has anybody done the job on a TSX?

I just removed the door panels, I'm not sure if you can just get the top high enough to install moleskins without taking off the panel. It is not hard to take them off, just take your time so you don't damage the panels. Only work of caution, very very very slowly work the plastic door handle cover off the passenger and rear doors. I cracked one rear one by pry to much in one spot instead of working my way around the cover. Cost me $13 to get a new cover.

You should be able to remove the door panel enough without unplugging the window controls to apply the mole skin.

Let us know ho it goes.

I still say just get thicker/sturdier film.

So is this needed for all tinted cars or what? I had mine done yesterday and don't want it to get scratched up.

You have a higher chance of getting scratches if you don't put it on.

After years of tinting windows I have never once installed or had a request for moleskin. Once again....I use a sturdier more expensive film called Madico Zero scratches on the TSeX!

It seems like people have mixed results with tint scratching. It's probably not the thickness of the film but the combination of parts inside the door that cause some to scratch and some to not scratch. Based on what I see some folks post they are paying for tint (ceramic for the NAVI crowd), I liken it to insurance. You are less apt to need it if you got it than to need it and not have it. Sounds profound dosn't it?
It seems that the newer Accords, TL's, TSX's, Mercedes and the new Mustang all have gone to hard plastic scrapers instead of rubber. Our TSX is showing scratches on the glass, even before we tint. There's no way that bad boy will not scratch some tint. A couple of the tinters I spoke with recently are now becoming aware of this new plastic scraper material and are looking into moleskin.
Thanks for the response on the door panel removal. I'll give it a go.
