I posted this in the other post you asked about, but I would definitely not buy it again. I have it in my Pathfinder, its extremely slow to scroll through artists, playlists, etc. I would just go with a RCA cable if I was going to do it again. No idea if it works with Navi (and are you asking stock or Alpines Navi?)

thanks, is not the stock navi made by alpine? i thought it was, then it would not matter. i read the review where it said scrolling is slow, but they made no mention of the navi and alpine claimed that the slowness was caused by the head unit rather than the device... so i was hoping that it might work faster on the navi.. what a bouta shuffle mode? is that ok? thx

The Alpine KCA-420i was made specifically for Alpine branded aftermarket headunits and plugs into Head units through an AiNet cable. The TSX factory HU does not have a AiNet plug so you won't be able to use it.

Even if it was compatible, you probably wouldn't want to use it anyway. In terms of speed and finding songs quickly, using the Ipod itself is probably the best interface. I've heard that the bandwidth of the Ipod dock connector limits the speed of the menus on the aftermarket interfaces.

This is actually very useful. Great topic. I was "this" close to getting an Alpine Headunit with Ipod interface mostly for the Ipod but also because since I don't have Nav or SatRadio, I may just add all 3 at once. I decided instead to order the Neo iOn Sp as a direct interface with my factory deck and forego the aftermarket Nav and Sat. I hope this means I made the right decision (and saved myself $2k) I plan on installing it this weeked. I hope it turns out well.

is there anywhere to find out for sure?

and most importantly, is there anything that I could use to get the use of the navi for the ipod?
thx!

The Navi version of the TSX does not have a AiNet plug either. Do a search on the SNHOND3 or blitzsafe and you will see the type of plug it has.

Yes you can get something to use the Navi and still keep XM. You'll have to tap into the XM signal and have an audio selector. Or if you're willing to lose XM, then you case use a SNHOND3, Blitzsafe. These will provide you with RCA inputs into the factory navi HU. You can also get the Icelink, which is pricey ($200) but will allow limited control of the IPod through the factory HU and steering wheel controls.

Harmon/Kardon is also coming out with a really cool looking Ipod interface with an external display. I would also look into that.

I would visit the a/v section or FAQ for more info:
