Another DICE vs USASpec question

After searching I've come to find out this topic has been beaten to death, so I preemptively apologize.

My question is how does each unit operate w/ regard to using the ipod directly. I understand the USA Spec unit needs to be switched over to DIRECT mode, how much of a pain is this? Furthermore, I've read that the DICE unit can be used on the steering controls, headunit controls, or on the ipod directly. I've also read the opposite in cconrads PDF file in this thread (second to last post), something to do w/ DIP switches? https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=646932&page=8

Any input and further clarification is appreciated

For me, I use my USASpec in a Folder+direct mode. I want the ability to control the iPod/iPhone from the device touchscreen. I don't use playlists or folders; I perfer to just select an artist and play from there. I just use the steering wheels to skip a song only. It work just the way I want it and I like it.

I think you might have to let folks know how you want to play your music to determine what system works best for you.

I want control through the headunit, steering wheel and ipod all at the same time, no switching over or having to hit buttons to use any of the 3

You shouldn't need to switch the DIP switches once they are set... would be a total pain to switch since I'm assuming the unit will be placed behind the cubby. The USASpec works great... you can use the iPod, steering wheel controls and use playlists. The only thing you'll need to do is switch your CDC disk to one of your six first playlists or put it on I think Disk 7 which allows you full control via the iPod. You'll still have another input on Disk 9 which allows you to add RCA inputs from satellite radio, HD radio or another audio source (DVD) as a growth option.

The usa spec unit looks good. The spelling errors all over the website make me a bit skeptical of the company itself.

No DICE lovers here on the site?

Rgoose18. you're getting no responses because this topic has been covered a million times. please use the search function. I have tried USA SPEC in my '06 but the install was difficult and Apple changes the iPhone firmware so much that it became very unreliable and dangerous to operate while driving. I just got a Kingston Liquid Aux with remote. no text on the head unit, but you can change tracks using their included remote. much cleaner and easier to install/operate. And kingston can spell.

Believe, on other forums I'm usually the guy flaming others for not searching, I did search. The data on these two setups was a bit inconclusive, hence the reason for this thread.

I believe you're referring to the kensington liquid aux unit. I've seem that although I would like a more integrated system. I figure between dice and usa spec, since there is no majority I'll go w/ the company who can spell. DICE silverline it is.

Cool sorry man. Good Luck. Please post your impressions. A lot of people on the board have or have tried USA Spec. I too looked at DICE, but at the time it was the one that lacked the features the USA SPEC had.

What put me over the edge was the fact that the usa unit needs to be toggled from steering controls and ipod controls, somewhat annoying

I'll keep this thread posted after the install
