Another bonehead move...(and so, a question)

Driving carefree and careless in a shopping mall parking lot, I thought I was taking a shortcut turnaround when "boom!" I ran into and over a curbed, island parking divider with my left front wheel.

I'll be taking my TSX '06 into a shop to check the damages. I didn't see anything wrong by eyeball, though I did notice later what seemed to be a new oil patch in my garage underneath the front of the engine. From what I've been told first by a dealer and then a shop, I'll at least need to get it realigned. Do you guys agree?

Also, anyone know if this kind of thing is covered by the warranty?

fuckin did the same thing in a taco bell parking lot with my 05 rsx-s... just thought it'd be faster to pull through the parking space and then... whack. didnt see the start of a concrete island infront of me (because it was only on the passanger side). luckly there wasn't any damage other than some scrape marks on the differental... thank god i didnt rip open the oil or trans fluid pan.

ive been much more careful since then in my tsx... i don't pull through spots no matter how confident i am that theres nothing in front of me

This is why I never take "shortcuts" through parking lots.

Driving carefree and careless? Nope, that's what insurance is for. Though I'm not sure I'd report and claim something minor like this.

I'm pretty sure I've done this once. My ex once socked in her left rear bumper/quarter panel backing into a gas station's 3' cement post that she literally couldn't see out of her (Toyota RAV4) rear window. (soapbox) This is the liability of fast cars ... you can zip ahead more rapidly than you can see and react to ground objects. (/soapbox) Potholes are the scariest for me, you can hardly see them. After that, unmarked speed bumps. In my Jeep, those really hurt, because the short wheel base makes it "bound" rather than "jump" like longer cars, so impacts like that make it lurch forward and down.

Definitely alignment, but you should also test it out at higher speeds to see if there is any vibration/shudder. If you hit it bad, the rim/tire may have been damaged. Happened to me with a massive pothole, and I needed to replace the tire and get the rim rebalanced.

Don't feel bad - as you can see, it happens. Being quite night-blind, I know it is only a matter of time before I bend something on my '08, especially while I am fooling around with the 6MT. Please do post the diagnosis and how well it is repaired.

About a year ago, I ran over a parking lot island that jumped out in front of me in the dark, in the rain, with both driver's-side wheels. Luckily, I was driving a 3/4 ton GMC pickup There was no damage, not even with the alignment, which suprised me. I don't think I will be as lucky with the TSX...

Yeah, I guess there's a little bonehead in all of us. I'll be bringing it in today. Hopefully, there won't be too much bad news.

Took it into an Honda/Acura shop. Ended up costing only $60 for an alignment. The injured wheel was adjusted to 2.4 degrees for the caster angle, just about within the 2.5 to 4 degree specified range. They said they couldn't do any better, otherwise, they'd have to take things apart, get parts costing $300, and add on top of that, hours of labor. It would've been nice if they'd been able to get the angle in range, but I think it's close enough. I'm sure I won't notice very much steering difference. And it'll save me probably $500. I appreciate the shop not going for the jugular on my wallet. The oil leak was just a loose oil pan gasket, which they tightened for free.

The dealer on the other hand said a simple diagnostic would cost $50, and then $70 for an alignment = $120. They probably would've wanted to do the whole make over thing to get the hundreds $$$ as well.

Overall, I feel like I dodged a

Yep, good call in the indy shop and understanding the alignment would be the first thing to go after that "oopsy".
