Am I Too Old to Drive a TSX?
All,
Just curious how old the oldest driver of a TSX is here in this forum. I see lots of post from folks in their 20's.
I'm getting ready to turn 31.... is it me, or am I just getting a bit too paranoid as I start inching closer to 40. I must say my TSX with a baby seat in the back looks much different than it did in my Passat.....LOL

Well.. honestly I don't think the car looks good on someone in their 40s.

too old for a TSX? When you start curb checking...hard time driving at night...squinting to see road markers during the day...then you're too old for a TSX (or any car)

dont say that.
just because someone is certain age doesnt mean they are forbidden to drive a car. just the same i hate it when people complain about young kids driving nice cars their mommy or daddy bought. if you like it, buy it. if people have a problem with you driving the car, run them over with it.

I find the trunk can hold three cases of Geritol at a time!!!!!!!!!
I understand that Acura's demographics for this car focus on the youthful buyer, specifically the affluent twentysomething. (Whether the money is theirs, or their parents is probably rather irrelevant to the bank.......) However, I leased the car because it is small, nimble and very fun to drive. If folks consider me age-inappropriate they can go pound sand.

Just bought one yesterday, and Im 33. Wanted a car to commute back and forth to work in that would make the long drive to work/home a bit more fun. Did alot of research on my options, and the TSX just fit the bill. We also looked at the TL, but couldn't justify paying $5000 more for more back seat area we'll never use (we have a CR-V for taking the family out, etc.) and worse gas mileage. And, call me crazy, but I just liked the way the TSX handled better than the TL.
...excuse me, now I gotta go drool over my new toy.....

Exactly. I'm 40 but single, no kids.
90% of the time I'm driving alone.
99% of the time there's nobody in the back seat.
I was initially shopping for something a bit bigger, but when I took a step back to consider how I REALLY am going to use the car, I could hardly justify anything as big as the TSX, let alone anything bigger or more expensive. And given current fuel prices, moving to a big V-6 just wasn't something I wanted to do.
I'm very happy with the purchase. Yes, this (and my previous) car has the AT. Somewhere along the line I kind of got tired of the incessant shifting in traffic, but I still have some fun...

I'm 39, buying a TSX in a couple months.
I'm single with an amazingly mature 12 year old daughter (unlike her Dad!!). I use her to judge when I am stepping over the line from 'cool Dad' to 'embarrassing old fool'.
She is all for the TSX. In fact she wants me to get Milano Red!!
When I brought up the fact that I might be a little old for that, she looked me straight in the eye and said "Yes, but who really cares what other people think? You have to do what makes you happy, right?"
Wisdom from the mouths of babes.....
(Think I'll stick with the CG, though!!)

I think in general you'll find that it's the mostly younger enthusiast that hangs out in car forums - and the reason sites like this tend to have a lower average age.

i'm 56 ; the responsiveness and handling (and the price per fun moments) are the reasons i bought the tsx.there is no age quotient for any product, perhaps only a marketing strategy by a manufacturer to find a niche to sell their auto.

wow, age-specific cars. that's a new one.
unless you're talking about modded civics or crown vics, who cares. i've seen all ages drive bmw 3's and smaller volvos. thats our competition right.
buy what you like. if you can afford it, get it. most people still think it's an accord anyway - and their partly right, it is in the EU.
I do wish it was a touch sportier, about an inch or two lower, rear lip spoiler and sportier tires. That should be enough to get rid of the accord comments.

Median age is 35
I read (I believe on acuranews.com) that the median age of TSX drivers is 35. That puts you on the young end of the spectrum. Now for the real question, anyone think its possible to fit 2 car seats and a booster in the back seat?

Speaking of car seats..(I'll be needing one anyday now )...does anybody put one in the middle. Or does everybody use the passenger side of the rear seat?

I'm 6 months away from 30... and I drive a tsx
I'm kind of a nosey nancy when it comes to this but every time i see a tsx on the road i try to see who is driving it..
I've seen a 50 something suburban dad with two 10 something year olds in the back, ive seen lots of attractive 20-30 something women (see ricecake), a few 'foriegn' looking guys that look like they use 5w-30 as hair gel, some asian guys, some late 20s early 30s guys (see me), although around here I have not seen any latinos in a TSX yet. Maybe that will change since my acura dealer moved closer to Aurora (har har har)...
To sum it up get the TSX and just be happy allready.

It's a hands free speakerphone for the car. Works great. I have a Blackberry so no bluetooth.

I'm 19, and yes, you are ALL too old. HAHAHAHA!!. just kidding. Acura has really made something that appeals to a huge range of ages. I'm actually really lucky to have this car, and need all the info that I can get from other people that can afford the car, and various extras that can be added, incuding insights of what extras to add and why. So the older the better.

Are you kidding! I am twice your age and have a TSX on order. I didn't find a "Recommended Age Group" anywhere on the sticker.
I recently talked with a 74 year old female driving a Mercedes 2-door sports car with a rag top. And, yes, she had the top down. And, yes, she loves her car.
Don't let mid-life crises hit you early. It usually strikes between the age of 40 and 45. But, these types of self-doubt are one of the symptoms.
The TSX is an enjoyable car to drive, it is an easy car to drive, it is an economical car to drive, and most people over 50 don't have children at home. And, if it lives up to the Honda/Acura reputation, it will be a safe, reliable, and dependable car. So, other than the firm ride and the lack of entry/exit ease, there is nothing that would cause me not to recommend the TSX to mature folks -- folks that can fully appreciate the engineering and refinements that have gone into the making of the car. The TSX is the first car that has brought back memories of having to stick a crank through a hole in the front bumper and turning the engine to get it started -- and hoping that someone actually did retard the spark advance. The TSX caused me to reflect on just how far automotive technology has advanced during my lifetime. And, as a corollary, it has caused me to also reflect on just how fast the world's supply of crude oil is being depleted. The world needs a lot fewer SUV's, pickup trucks, vehicles with V-8 engines, and a lot more cars like the TSX so that the generations to come can also enjoy driving cars like the TSX.
