am i doing this right?

Just turned 300 miles on the new car...been slowly inching my way past 3500RPM without any load....ive hit about 4700 sofar....i think i read somewhere that i should have touched 6500 a few times by the time i hit 500 miles. I havent WOT it yet any higher than 4000 and not for very long at all...im just trying to make the most out of this engine as possible....Can anyone give me any other pointers for breaking in the engine or note anything im doing wrong? The last thing i want to do is mess up my new car

your supposed to drive your car or any car RUFF and red line it alot but not all the time,,, so your engine is used to it, that way you can drive it ruff later on when its older,, if you drive it like a woman and then later drive it like a man it will prob die on you. because its not used to all tha hammering

I cant tell if your being sarcastic or not. Is this really true? I dont think mechanical parts, i.e. engine and pistons, can have a memory effect of how they were first driven while they were brand new.

Redline, you're doing it the right way. Keep it up and you'll enjoy it for years. Keep in mind that it won't be fully broken in until you have several thousand miles on it. You'll notice small improvements in fuel economy and performance (it'll feel quicker and more responsive after proper break-in) and it will rev higher more freely. Have fun.
