if the DOT requiers amber reflectors to be in the front, will I get a ticket if I get the cleared corners. Problem is that I go to school at penn state and cops have nothing to do than to prey on cars with small little problems like white turner signals or green side markers.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that law doesn't require amber reflectors, but amber lights showing to the front when blinking. I do believe that 95% of cars in the US do have amber reflectors for turn signals. If the cop knows his stuff, he can write you a ticket for your lights not meeting SAE and DOT requirements because it has been altered. But 95% of the time, if you have an amber light that blinks when you signal, they won't do anything.

the point of the reflectors isnt for signaling...its to be seen at night, especially when the car is parked on an unlit street. kind of like a bicycle.

Yeah, but what I meant was for instance, my 99 Prelude doesn't have amber reflectors on the headlight, nor does, say an older model Acura CL. So headlights do not have to have amber relectors in them to be SAE and DOT legal. But for people with headlights that have headlights that do have amber reflectors in them, it would be illegal for them to take it out, but if they put amber bulbs in its place for blinking purposes, most cops won't nail you for it.

I agree with Lude, my 200sx had clear corners and i got nailed for having white bulbs in the corner, then i put in amber bulbs and didnt have a problem for the duration of ownership, about 2.5 years. So if they are clear just make sure you have amber bulbs. And if you dont like the amber you can buy those bulbs that are clear but flash amber; that way you get the clean look but the amber light

In Mississippi, there's a little violation called 'illegal equipment.' MS Code 63-7-41 Basically, if you buy, sell, or use modified non-DOT approved lighting, you may be written a ticket. This includes clears, blackouts...anything without a DOT stamp of approval. However, I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket with amber bulbs in clear signals. It's the guys who want 'Hyperblue' lamps in their turn signals that get citations.
So anyway, I'm in.

Um, that's a lot of code to look through. Regardless of which, if a cop pulls you over for breaking a code within that list, you just have REALLY crappy luck. In VA, I used to carry papers in my car just in case I got pulled over because I had a printout of VA state laws saying that an exhaust is not illegal because it isn't OEM or makes too much noise, and that signal lights can be amber or clear. In fact, I didn't have any amber reflectors on my car accept for an amber rear turn signal bulb that was painted silver. Whenever I saw cops at a 7-11, I would ask them if they could point out anything illegal about my car, they would either say no, or point out those various things and I would show them the VA laws and they are very surprised.
