After over 5 years...
... I signed away my 04 ABP TSX yesterday. I have very mixed feelings, I loved the way the car drove and it got me out of SUVs, but like some other early TSX owners (I bought mine in June of 2003) my car had issues, to say the least. So I'll miss the luxury, smooth shifting manual and the hitting that amazing 7,100RPM red line... but I won't miss dealing with Acura or all the little quirks my car developed over the years.
I pick up my 2008 Subaru Impreza wagon early next week.
It's been a pleasure meeting all you here!

And yeah... I didn't learn my lesson I guess, but the 2008's have been out for a longer time than when I bought my TSX so let's hope they worked some of the kinks out.
I just couldn't resist those three little red letters any longer: STI.

You didn't specify STI. Nice. Have fun and be careful. And post pics.

Proud Acura Owner
i think that was stupid. I would never trade in a TSX for a subaru. Honda is clearly a much better and more reliable company. He probably drove the tsx very rough and thats why he got problems. As long as you take care of your car and control how many miles you put on it, its fine and should last long with no problems.
I have a 2004 TSX with 76000 miles and its been fine so far with no issues.

Just curious. My , I have an '04 with 57k miles and after an early bout with the headlight moisture problem and a few burned out interior dash lights (not the dreaded radio/HVAC failure, just individual bulbs), and a resurfacing of the brake rotors at 15k - all under warranty - I have had zero problems or repair expenses. Even the oldest models sometimes have a good life. I feel like its been a damn good run, so far. (Of course I came from driving Mazdas for 29 years. Talk about problem magnets!)
But let me make it clear: I love the car. If I had a better ownership experience, I would keep it for at least another year or two - at least till I hit 100k. It held up very well cosmetically and is very entertaining to drive (I rented a Mustang not too long ago, all be it the base V6, and I was shocked at how much better the TSX corners and feels on the highway compared to what is supposed to be a sporty coupe!). I actually had a deposit down on an 08 TSX last year but they couldn't get the color / option combo I wanted (ABP, Navi, 6 speed).
Also the STI is just awesome IMHO. I almost traded the TSX in before - for an 05 - but back then it was just too brutal a car for my soft a** to use as a daily driver, but the 08 is nice when you want it to be and nasty as all hell when you put your foot into it.
There is not a doubt in my mind you will enjoy a long, happy life with your TSX... as it seems 95% of the people here do... as I did, even with the frustrating moments.

I'm not the only one here who has had problems with their early 04, there were clearly some issues with the first cars coming off the line in March - June 03. I think the people with clutches got the brunt of the problems too.
And I'm sure I would have purchased another Honda product... if it was AWD and had this under the hood:

congrats on the new ride.
altho i have no major problems with my TSX, i'm staying outta the 1st yr model (for many reasons) TSX/TL, and hopefully honda release that turbo (for mmc) after next yr's diesel.
