Addicted!!
Addicted!!
Arggghhh! This car is sooo addicting. Someone please stop me from engaging the VTEC! I find myself finding excuses to go out and drive. Just now after coming back from work I decided to go out again just to get thai ice tea. Tea for crying out loud! From the two weeks I had purchased the car I've already put on 800 miles. Any prescriptions in stopping this addiction?

I know what you mean addicted. I came off of one of the most fun cars of my life..
MKIV GTI VR6.. IT is a nice change of pace. This car just keeps ching through all 6 gears. I love it.
I have 150 miles on it and i am growing more fond of the car daily.

How important is the break in period?
The dealer I bought it from, said that the only thing to try to avoid was driving at the same rate of speed for long periods. He said we could push it a bit without worry...
Then after doing so, I take a look at the manual, which says take it easy, and then come here and see the same....
The cynic in me says the dealer wants me to have problems so I want to buy a new car in a few years.... he also said that premium gas isn't necessary and to try it out.
Oh well after reading the manual, i took the lead weight off of my shoes, but was wondering if I had already done some harm in the first 150 miles where I definitely got the rpms up several times.
Any thoughts?

as for did you do damage? highly unlikely. cars today go through processes at the auto manufacturing plant which makes the "break-in" period as we know it almost debatable. i wouldn't worry, but i would take it easier for about 500 miles or so.
