Added the TSX to my insurance policy

I still have my 2001 CL-S and bought a 2005 PWP TSX-navi last week and added to my policy. I got the new policy in the mail yesterday, and to my surprise, the TSX is about $200/year cheaper than my old CL. I was paying about $360/6 months on the CL and the TSX is going to be about $260/6 months. When I sell the CL next month, I'll have the cheapest insurance bill I've ever had with any car I've owned.

on the purchase and on the insurance savings.

I think your one of the first CL to TSX converts I've seen.

Congrats

But don't be so quick on having a cheap insurance. You're probably getting a multi-car discount right now which will go away when you sell the CL. Just be prepared for that.

The multicar discount <$60/year. I'm getting a new car discount which will go away next year also. The premium breakdown still puts the TSX cheaper than the 5 year old CL-S by almost $180/year.

When I first added the TSX to my insurance policy the agent didn't have any info on it. The first question he asked me was how many horsepower did it have. That might me one reason the CL is more expensive to insure than the TSX.

Thats true!!

Before I purchased my TSX, I got quotes for the Accord V6 Coupe, TL, and TSX and for a 6-mo policy, I got the following:

Accord EXV6 Coupe = $670
Acura 2004 TL = $670
Acura TSX = $540

When I asked why the price differece, the rep. said the Accord and TL have V6's and are categorized in the realm of high performance cars while the TSX is classified as a standard 4dr. sedan.

Keep in mind this is in So Cal, minimum coverage, $500 deductable and one other car on policy ('01 Mazda Tribute). DAAM INSURANCE!!!

How do you like your TSX compared to your CL Type-S? My dad has a CL Type-S that he loves but the lease is up in a few months. It's a sweet ride.

I drove my CL last Sunday for the first time in 5 days of driving the TSX. The first thing I noticed is just how heavy the CL feels. You don't feel as connected to the road as in the TSX. The TSX is much more "comfortable" inside also. I do love the sound of the CL and the straight line acceration better. I haven't got the TSX over 4k rpm yet (only 300 miles on the odo so far). I've had it up to 85 and I was surprised on how quiet and smooth is was, not your typical 4 cylinder. I don't plan on racing anyone, so this car gives me what I'm looking for right now.
