Acura's Loaner Policy

Hey,

What is Acura's loaner car policy? Any age requirement, etc?

I believe it's up to the dealer to determine their own loaner policy. I know they aren't the same everywhere. One dealer i went to just handed me the keys to a used maxima from their lot and I drove off with it, like a long test drive... another dealer I know has more like a car rental agency in their dealership, and they use it to give you complimentary loaner cars. Some dealers don't have loaner cars, some only for certain types of services.

depends on the dealer. I know a the dealer nearby here will only give you a loner car if you purchased your car from there, but they claim they'd give it to you for any service, even an oil change (and that's why you should buy from them for more $). From my experience, most dealer won't give you a loner unless you car will be there most of the day.

the dealers in here in arizona, for the most part, give RSX automatic's, non-type s.......

they used to give legend's and integra's.

it REALLY makes you love your car even more!!!

Here in Oregon, they basically laugh at me if I want a loaner. In Washington DC, I got an almost new RL for the day

All they did was scan my license and ask me to bring it back with a full tank of gas.

Sounds like loaner policies do vary quite a bit.

My dealer requires my driver's license and proof of insurance. Typically an RSX auto. They give it to you with 1/2 tank, and you can bring it back empty -- flat fee of $10. You get a loaner for any scheduled appointment except an oil change.

Oh, and I REALLY appreciate my TSX after spending some time in an RSX -- they're agile, but the interior is crappy compared to the TSX.

Here the local Acura dealer will loan out either a 6gen Honda Accord or 7gen Honda Civic...no Acuras are loaned out.

I test drove a TSX yesterday. I happened to open the glove box and the window sticker was in it. The car's window sticker did not have a price and instead said "Service Loaner" on the window sticker.

The dealer let me drive it as they only had manuals in stock and they wanted to accomodate my request.

I found it interesting that cars come from the factory (or Acura US sales) designated as "Service Loaners".

as far as age limits are concerned... aparently i'm old enough to drive the car when i'm test driving (deciding to purchase) and I'm old enough to afford to pay for it; but some how i'm not old enough for me to be eligible for a loaner (must be 21)

It varies by dealership. But most places won't rent you a car unless you are 25. I had to get my credit checked and my income verified since I am under that "magic" number. Oh well.

By then my insurance will be half, in spite of never having a ticket.

Did you take your car to a Portland dealer? If so, which one? Tonkin or Acura of Portland? Was the car a loaner (officially) or did they just give you a brand new TL out of the kindness of their heart?

Be grateful you dont go on vacation and have to rent a car. Standard policy is 25 at most rental places.

That sucks. I got stuck in a dirty 2003 RSX. I mean it was literally dirty inside.

When my TSX was in the shop for a week, they gave me a SSM TSX 5AT non-navi. All they did was photocopy my license and ask who my insurance company was. Gave me the keys and I was on my way. Im only 20 by the way. Driving the auto for a week really made me miss my 6MT. The watered-down performance of the 5AT is very noticable after driving both back to back.

Which dealer? Both the dealer in KC have loaner cars that are all Acura's. My old dealership had over 40 cars in the loaner program which included 7 TSX's. No charge you just had to reserve the car. The service dept is top notch.

Thread resurrection.

I have had 2 loaners from Acura here locally and I have not paid for either. One was an MDX the other was a late model TL, not SHAWD though.

One thing to note. Be sure your insurance covers car rentals. If god forbid you get in an accident and your insurance doesn't cover them you could be in for a world of payments.

I'm in my local dealer here in Boise, ID about once a month for regular maintenance do to how much I drive. They are 5 stars! Their loaner fleet has just about everything. In fact, the only vehicle not in their program is the RLX. But I've driven everything else thru the program.

My dealer typically gives the same model of your car. When we brought in our MDX, we got an MDX. When we brought in our TL, we got a TL. The loaner may not have had all the bells and whistles as our cars, but got the same car.

When we had our '04 TSX serviced not too long ago they gave us a '14 MDX base for a day. Just handed us the fob, asked to return it full of gas and scanned the license necessary.
