acura tl or acura tsx for first car?
So im turning 18 in august and will be buying my first car my parents are helping with a down payment, but I'm paying the rest.
So what car do you recommend for an 18 year old and why and what are pros and cons of both and thanks and im new here so thanks.

Why one or the other? I wouldn't recommend either for an 18 y/o. Look at a GTI, Civic Si, or maybe a WRX (my recommendation, along with the suggestion that you actually learn how to drive it). You'll have plenty of time for larger, more docile sedans when you get older.

I'd need more info to provide a better recommendation.
How will the car typically be driven? Do you prefer better acceleration, or better handling? What is your financial situation?
The TSX gets better fuel economy and will cost less in the long run. It also handles better. The TL will cost more in gas and maintenance/repairs over the long run, but it accelerates much faster.
Backseat room is a little cramped, but I don't spend any time back there. I also don't allow complaints from people that are getting a free ride. Yesterday I drove 900 miles with a smaller woman in the back seat, and got no complaints. I averaged 34mpg on the entire trip.

TSX!
In traffic being able to accelerate quickly means little, but being able to grab that parking spot across 3 lanes of traffic that a large sedan would never be able to fit into... priceless!
If I wanted a car that could accelerate hard and a nice growl I'd get a mustang.

I got the TSX (6MT) as my first car, and I love it. Sure, it did cost much more than other options out there, but the reliability and luxury in the car is a definite plus. I am making payments on it, which does suck, but if you have the money for it, do it. I do sometimes think about buying a cheap integra, because I feel too guilty modifying my car especially if its not even payed off yet. If you want something you can drive on road trips, around town, rev high, and enjoy looking at, you can get either. I guess it comes down to what is for sale around the area. I would choose the TSX, but that is obviously a bias opinion.

TSX:
-Handles better
-Better gas mpg (although TL gets pretty good for a V6)
-Smooth as hell manual transmission
-More aftermarket
TL:
-More luxurious
-More power
If it's between a 6MT TSX vs. Auto TL...TSX all day. TL is still faster, but an auto TL is significantly slower than the 6MT. 6 speed TSX is fun as hell. Also, not saying TSXs aren't common, but the 3rd gen. TLs at least by me, are like the Civics of luxury cars. I see more on the road than your typical Bimmer.

You know what.......looking at the atrocity that is the newer bloated designs of the +09 TL's and TSX's............the 2004-2008 TL's/TSX's both look sharp and amazing.
So based on looks might be a tough one, since both look great.
I'd make the deciding factor on either SHARP HANDLING (TSX) vs V6 ACCELERATION(TL) like others said in this thread.
But Both look great IMO.
