Acura gift pen

For those that got the Acura gift pen in the mail ... what did you all do with them? Just curious if anyone is actually using them, leaving them in glove box, etc.

EDIT: It seems that only Canadian TSX owners get this "astronaut" pen in the mail. Not sure why

Yeah...It'll reside in the owners manual till my lease is up. I'm picky about my pens cuz I use them all the time.

Sure.
A pen is a pen...
I keep it in the center console tray along with the notepad I use as my car log.
It may not be the fanciest pen in the world, but like the rest of the stuff that came in the car, it does the job with a touch of style...
And it does match the car's aesthetic theme...

I didn't get a pen in the mail. There was one in the owner's manual binder.

So it seems alot of people actually got the pen with the car, rather than in the mail. Unless we are taling about different pens... the one I got in the mail came in a triangular box , and supposedly writes under water, in space etc. Hmmm ... could there be another pen in my owners manual that I missed?

If its the same pen they are mailing..then yes. For those that didnt get it in the mail this is what th eletter said....

"As a token of our appreciation we are pleased to enclose an Acura inscribed pen. This pen is precision crafted in fine stainless steel and is quite special. The refill was origionally developed for use by astronaus and offers the best possible writing quality known to mankind. Based on a hi-tech futuristic procedure to write even under the most adverse conditions. It will write upside down, under water, over grease, in the extreme heat and cold and of course in outer space. A lifetime warranty is included."

So IF its the same pen ...it can write upside down.

I didn't get a pen with my binder. How long after purchasing your car did you get your pen in the mail?

Nope, thats not it. The pen I am talking about is much nicer. Its a thicker, heavier pen.

EDIT: OK i just thought of something. The pen gift might only be for Canada. All the people I have seen post about getting this astronaut pen have been from Canada (including myself) so you guys south of the border may be out of luck

Here is a pic I found of it.

It is strange. Its probably just something the Acura of Canada marketing department came up with on their own.

Anyways...its just a pen. But if you are really into acura accesories I guess this pen would be a nice touch.

Its great. The Acura logo engraved on the pen is a nice touch.... and it writes flawlessly regardless of whether you are writing upsidedown or over grease and even underwater!

(note: you rarely ever find yourself in ANY of those situations... but hey)

I hope Acura sends me a nice "star jet" pen! The black pen that came with the owner's manual is crap.

I have 2 Astro Pens. The first one they sent me was broken so I called Honda and asked for another. Sure enough 3 days later I get one via Purolator (First one came through regular mail) Great service. I don't use either though.

The pen is actually made in Germany. For some reason I thought that was kinda funny.

Well a lot of high quality items come out of Germany, like BMW's!

You will admire it's superior materials and craftmanship. It will out perform all of your other inferior pens and it won't rattle every second that you are using it...

I used to have one of those space pens when I was in college; they were called Fisher space pens and sold for about twice the rate of a nice Parker pen.

They really do write upside down and in zero G because the ink cartridge is sealed with high pressure gas as well as the ink.
Because of the need to maintain a fair amount of gas in the cartiridge the came with less ink than other pens and ran out more often; you got less pages per cartiridge than cheaper pens.
In addition, the ink formulation was very finicky; in hot weather it would on ocasion leak out and congeal on the tip.

After a semester or so, I gave up and got myself a nice solid Parker pen; they were cheaper to buy, cheaper to operate and lasted forever. The space pens had a lot of flash but not much ink.
In other words, the price was high and the value proposition was low.

I didn't know they were made in germany since the outfit selling them was based in Texas, but somehow I wouldn't be surprised if German engineering were behind them.

So thats why the first Pen I got was broken. It all makes perfect sense now.

But you still had to have another one because it was nicer than all of your other ones, a step up in appeal and performance. Everyone asked you about it, wanted to see/use it and you liked to show it off.

No one is impressed with those Japanese plastic ball points anymore. They always work, but they are a little sloppy and just aren't that visually stimulating.

We are still talking about pens, right?
