Acura certification question

Hello All,
I am a newbie to this forum and am buying an Acura TSX 05 soon. The dealer has promised to certify the vehicle. I would really appreciate if anyone can let me know what documents I should receive from the dealer to make sure that the car is in fact acura certified. Will they provide me with some certified warranty booklet containing the VIN of the car, indicating its certification and the extended coverage that comes with it?

I would really appreciate your response since I am planning to go to the dealer this weekend.

Thanks...

Yes, they should provide the extended warranty coverage booklet and also an inspection checklist. You can ask for maintenance records, as well. Acura's web site should also have info on certified vehicles. I bought a certified '04 and had all that info.

Is the certification booklet a general booklet on the benefits of certification or does it have the VIN # of the car on it indicating the coverage provided by the certification for the car?

Thanks a lot for your response!!

Umm...I think it's just a general booklet describing the coverage/benefits. However, I think they also gave me a little card with my warranty period on it. I'll have to take a look at my booklet tonight and let you know. Each dealership may be different, though.

I would really appreciate that if you can check and let me know! I just want to make sure that I get the correct evidence that I have the extended warranty that comes with the certification. I checked with acura and they told me that the particular VIN that Im looking to buy is not yet certified. When I checked back with the dealer, they told me that it might take sometime for the certification information to get into the system. So in case I decide to buy the car on Sat, I just want to make sure that I get enough proof that the car is indeed certified.

Thanks a lot for your time!

Correct me if I am wrong.... I am assuming that with acura certification, one gets 1yr/12k limited warranty on top of what is remaining of the original factory warranty i.e the 4yr/50k becomes 5yr/62k mile if there is some original warranty remaining? Also, I guess it comes with 7yr/100k power-train?
Btw, if you happened to get the acura care warranty for comprehensive extended coverage, let me know how much the dealer charged you for it.

Thanks much!

Ok, to answer your questions:

1. Yes, the CPO warranty adds an extra 1 yr/12,000 miles to the factory bumper to bumper warranty, making it 5 years/62k miles.
2. The drivetrain warranty goes to 7 yrs/100k miles.
3. You do get a little card (about business card size) with the VIN # typed on it and it tells you the number of miles for the CPO warranty and what date they expire.
4. You should also receive a card with your radio code on it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for your response!
So from what I understand, the membership card will clearly state when ur extended factory warranty and the power-train will expire. So for an '04 tsx, the card should indicate the factory warranty to be extended to 2009 and the power-train to 2011...
I watch out for that!!

That is correct. At least, that's what I got. Good luck with your purchase.
