90K Service coming up

HI All,

I have close to 87K on my 05 TSX and generally how much you guys are paying for 90K Service??

During my recent oil change the Dealership flushed the brake fluid. I replaced ( drained/refilled) the tranny at 75K.

Is it really worth paying 600/- to the dealer for 90K Service..

I'm just about ready to do my 70k and there's no way I'm shelling out over 400 bucks to the dealer. Best call would be buy the parts and DIY. Otherwise get some qualified that isn't a dealer and pay them a 1/3 of the dealer quote.

what are they planning to do to your car for $400.00. The only things I needed to be done was a oil/filter change.

No way either of the below services should be $400.

According to MyAcura Maintenance Schedule for 70,000 miles:

"Normal" Schedule:

Replace engine oil.

Rotate tires (follow pattern on page 276 of your owner's manual).

Check engine oil and coolant at each fuel stop.
Check and adjust valve clearance, cold engine, only if noisy.

"Severe" Schedule:

70,000 mi/112,000 km Scheduled Maintenance

Recommended service:

Replace engine oil.
Replace engine oil filter.
Inspect front and rear brakes.
Lubricate all hinges, locks and latches.
Rotate tires (follow pattern on page 276 of your owner's manual).
Inspect tie-rod ends, steering gearbox and boots.
Inspect suspension components.
Inspect drive shaft boots.

Check engine oil and coolant at each fuel stop.
Check and adjust valve clearance, cold engine, only if noisy.

Most dealers don't follow the manufacturer's schedule. If they did, they wouldn't make any money. If you've been following the dealer schedule, you'll need to keep paying them or figure out what has/has not been done and adjust your request to ensure that all the manufacturer's items have been addressed. Fluid changes (oil, coolant, transmission, brake), filters (oil, air, cabin, fuel) and belts should be dealt with at some point. Alignment, and brakes need to be kept in spec as well.

I love the "objective" noise assessment on the valves to either adjust or not adjust. I'm thinking a lot of noisy valves might be heard for the extra service hours.

i'm waiting to go for my 80,000 mile service, hopefully within the next few months. one acura dealer sent me a BS 75,000 mile service. i shredded that thing right away because there is no 75K service in the maintenance journal at all.
