9 Years with my TSX

I've been a member of AcuraZine since October 4, 2004, 5 days after picking up my 2004 TSX. I was 16 when I got it with just 8 miles on the odometer, having bought it at Acura of Peabody back in Massachusetts. 2 weeks ago, I celebrated my 9th anniversary with my TSX and can unequivocally say, I will never part with this car.

I became passionate with Acura's when I was a young kid, back in the early-to- mid 90's. The Legend sedan and coupe, the Integra, and of course, the NSX. The love grew when the 2001 CL Type-S was introduced and I still remember my dismay when I heard that the CL would be discontinued after the 2003 model year. I even wrote to Acura corporate to tell of my disappointment but to no avail. In 2004, my parents graciously said I could have a new car that was not outrageously expensive, safe and reliable and checked all the bills that a parent would want for their inexperienced, teenage driver. The TSX was the only thing on my short list.

In all these years, the car has been through it all with me. High school and college graduations, relationships, happy times and sad times, stupid times, and gleeful times, rain or shine,. It protected me like a mother bear protects its cub when I crashed into a guardrail resulting in cosmetic damage back in 2006. Though nearly anyone else would have written it off as a loss, I knew I would never find a car that I shared a bond with as much as I did with my TSX.

Perhaps this thread stands as a "love letter" to my TSX or to Acura as a brand. There has never been any other inanimate object that I have such affinity for, nor do I think there ever will be. I no longer get to drive my TSX on a daily basis, she's slowly becoming a bit of a garage queen as I now live in New York City. But every time I can get back to see my family, the first thing I do is head for the garage to see my old girl and take her out for a spin. She sits there with a smile on her face, ready for the next adventure.

In all these years, the TSX has aged gracefully. I go out of my way to keep it in tip top shape and am religious about any maintenance being done before or at the scheduled time. It has proven that with such diligence, these cars will last a lifetime.

While many have become frustrated with and moved on from Acura for differing reasons over the past few years, perhaps because of their "controversial" styling, or their impudence of nonconformity to the trends of the industry, one thing remains: Acura builds one hell of a car, full of soul and passion. These cars aren't just reliable work horses, they are some of the finest automobiles on the road that only a select, educated few have come to realize or respect. And I wouldn't have it any other way..

Great post.

I also love my car.

I did not get it quite as young as you, but it was my first new car when I bought her. I plan to keep it for a long, long time.

Congrats! My TSX turns 12 in a month. I bought my 2004 Acura TSX Meteor Silver Metallic/Quartz/5AT/NAV on April 28, 2003 shortly after they were released. The car has been great for the most part and is still running well. I had a number of first model year issues early on and over the years that Acura took care of free of charge. I plan on keeping it for a good while longer. I have just over 117,000 miles on it.

Seems like another testament to Honda's reliability. It's looking like regular maintenance is all that's needed on these cars.

That is a lot of driving, essentially 100 miles every day for ten years. Glad to hear of your great experience.

I will be coming up on 9 years with my '06 TSX 6MT. I have 99450 miles on the odometer today, will be going in for my 100K service within the next month.

I still love driving this car every day. It has never let me down. It still handles great, and returns the same mileage I got when it was new.

There simply is not a car out there that I have a burning desire to replace it with. If I was forced to replace it, I'd probably opt for a Mazda 3 Grand Touring with 6MT. Not quite as nice, but close. Nowhere near the power and torque, but far better mileage.

I've driven the ILX, not impressed, nowhere near as nice of a vehicle as the '04 thru '08 TSX. Honda had a winner, and in my opinion screwed it up in '09.

The only way they could improve on this car would be to put their excellent diesel engine with a 6mt in this body. I would have been all over that.

Just past 7 years with my '07. I was MUCH older than 16 when I finally got to pick my own car (my previous, and first, was inherited when my grandmother died…), but I LOVE my car. We just added a BRZ to the family, but my TSX will always remain *my* baby.

Bought my 05 on 8/05 and it has only 62K miles on it. The car is used mainly for vacation/weekend trips. Waiting for my DD (94 Accord 225K mi) to die, but still holding on.
