i like my 4300k... matching our oem headlight projector temp..

i had 5k before, and it was too blue compared to our headlights -- didn't flow well.

The yellow ones are the more functional choice. Light on the blue end of the spectrum is more easily scattered by water molecules. The perceived effect is more glare or bloom to the oncoming traffic and less light reflected back from other objects to you. The yellow light does not scatter as much so you will actually be able to see further ahead in foggy or misty conditions.

I think the aftermarket bluish ones look rice as hell and are an obvious indicator that the person driving doesn't know what those lights are for in the first place. These are the same people that drive around with the fogs on all the time because they think it looks cool completely oblivious to how blinding they are to other motorists. Go with the yellow.

go with yellow. The blue is hard to match and it looks odd. By going yellow I think it looks better, and most of all its functional.

If you don't want to match with hids then go 3000k and for visibility. It also depends on your car color i went with
xenon match and i wasn't a fan too much but it beats stock fog lights.

Vote for 3000K here, I want to do that myself. Has anyone here installed HID fogs WITHOUT removing the bumper?

Yea its better just removing the bumper but you can get by turning the wheels and loosing some bolts and moving the underbody.

Its possible to install it wo taking the bumper off... But with the extra work to work around the bumper, you couldve made your life a whole lot easier by taking that extra 5 minutes to remove your bumper.

With that said, I think if you want fogs for functionnality, you're better off with nokya yellows or piaa bulbs.

Hid fogs is just a ego stroke cuz it looks cool imo.

I tried to change my halogen bulbs tonight (not with HIDs) but I can't get my hand up there. Its really difficult. Would it be a good idea to take the bumper off just to swap bulbs? Would that allow me to access them more easily?

well, all this talk about which color is better....
fact is, with our car running HIDs, and with no option from the factory
to run your fogs without your HIDs on, no matter what color you use it's
about worthless, the HIDs ruin any benefit from the fogs you get.
so knowing that, I match my color temperature to my HIDs so the car doesn't
look unbalanced. but I rarely if ever turn the fogs on anyway, because like
I just said, they're basically worthless.

you can access the fog housings by removing a few clips/screws under the front end and peeling back the plastic lining. you just have to be careful about screwing in the bulb, especially if it's a hoen H11 with that special coating. if you scratch it, the bulb is basically useless. i learned this the hard way.

i keep going back and forth about HID fogs. they're basically all form and no function, but they look super cool. i think i'll eventually get some 3k fogs in yellow, but that mod is very low on the priority list.

True - No option from the factory. But its possible to run the fogs independent.

My new bulbs are LED H11 bulbs. They are. again, all form and no function. My OEMs don't do anything for me anyway in terms of functionality. I am completely understanding about making our cars look 'cool' regardless of what the 'critics' say. Anyway, the LED bulbs don't have glass coating and don't get hot like halogens, so the scratching is not an issue, but I can still damage the diodes.

The dealer quoted me at $41 for the swap, but anything over $8 is no good considering I can DIY it. He told me on the phone, instead of bending the plastic, to just take the panel off.

Does anyone know how to take the underpanel off? I can figure it out, but any tips on how to remove the one cap (or screw or something) would be helpful as well. There's a bolt that the manual says to take off, but I'm referring to the other one that looks more like a cap and not a screw/bolt.

thanks.

My ebay fogs been running fine for the past year... for 50$ what evs... almost the same price as some nokya bulbs. My right side does occasionally like to not turn on the first time, but all i gotta do is turn it on twice and all is fine. It might be partially going out prematurely since i have mine hardwired to my parking lights, so they blink whenever i lock/unlock my car with the keyfob (which is probably not wise with hid fogs).. but 50$/1year and still working, I'm happy with it.

I just unsuccessfully tried to take the undercover off. Getting the plastic screws and bolts off is easy, but here is the problem I have:

There are three plastic undercovers (that I saw). There are two on the sides by the fogs, and one larger one in the middle that seems to extend far toward the back. The middle one seems to cover too much of the bottom of the entire car to be the one that I have to remove. So I tried the side ones. The problem was that the piece seemed to be the same piece that lines the inside of the entire tire well. Its the piece that has the small splash-guard looking projection in front of the tire. Now... I know I don't have to remove this entire piece from the tire well, do I?

Am I looking at the wrong plastic cover?

IIRC it's just those 3 bolt/clips, and then you can just bend the flap (pull hard, its hard plastic) until it flaps out, and then you can just snake your hand in there..

It's still easier to just take off your bumper.... 3 bolts, 2 screws, and a few clips on top. thing just pops right out.. takes all of not even 5 minutes once you've mastered it.

^^oh, you mean you have to sort of bend it to force it to come out from on top of the other panels that it sits on top of?

And, is it the same piece that has the splash-flap looking thing?

Also, in case I decide to take the bumper off, how easy is it to get the bumper back on? Remember, I'm relatively new at taking cars apart.

IIRC that piece that you need to bend to get to the fog lights is overlapping that "splash piece" thing. So you have to bend it so that it goes under the splash piece, and then snake your hand up there.

Putting on the bumper is the exact opposite of putting it on... shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes if it's your first time.
Btw, don't take off your grill, it comes off with the bumper.

I'd go with 3k for the functionality of it. White/blue looks hot but isn't as useful as yellow.

oh I know, I had mine done long ago.
not with that DIY technique, a different way, but same result.

the only time I run my fogs is independently.
I use them when it's raining during the day (when it's mandatory to have lights on)
and during times like early dusk. I use them to prolong the life of
my HIDs because I think it's a waste to be running your HIDs when it's not
even dark enough to use them to see.

Sorry, especially to the OP, for getting off topic on this thread by asking how to access the fogs.

Anyway, I should contrib since I got so off topic:

I voted 3000K.

my advice would be to keep in mind that the aftermarket HID fogs are illegal and slightly unsafe. You could blind people or get pulled over. Know how the cops would respond in your area. For example, I know that the cops don't bother people about lighting in my area, so I wouldn't worry here in NE Ohio. I mean, I see people driving around with blue accent lights in their grills and stuff here.
