No and No. The 5AT puts down about 10HP less than the 6MT. Plus its slightly heavier and geared differently, geared for better MPG while the 6MT is geared for more spirited driving.

I guess it all depends on what you plan to race.

where is a dyno chart showing a 10hp difference in power between each, they should have about the same power to the wheels...

drag, automatic cars end up doing better when you have a lot more power, easier to launch consistently, also using the torque convertor to get more power...

auto cross, stick is prob best suited for quick upshift/downshifts on the turns...

Nope, I'll serach for the dyno but its a known fact that Auto trannies cause greater power loss. Expect about 15% loss for an MT and about 20% for an AT. TSX MT puts down about 170 while the Auto puts down about 160.

Here's an Auto TSX dyno. Only Auto dyno I know of. Do a search for 6MT dyno's and you'll commonly see 170.

Yup, Injen CAI, so my Autobox is hopefully putting down 170 to the wheels

No that is very noticeable.

Stock auto is about 162-165, stock MT is around 170-175.

wrong.

and ya autos can be good for dragging with high torque engines, which the TSX is not. 9.999/10 times in street cars the MT will be faster to 60 and faster through the 1/4

There are tons of threads on this. Links provided.

6mt is lighter, has more aggressive gearing, and has less powertrain loss than the AT.

Closing.

If you absolutely must continue to debate this, please do so in one of the previous 6mt vs 5at threads. But there isnt really much to debate.

And if you like putting down AT drivers, acting like the 5AT TSX should have never been made and being a snob then the 6MT TSX is for you !
