Sorry ... 350z here ... will be a much better daily driver. Or better yet ... spring for the G35C if you can

350Z, the S2K is a sweet ride but kind of dated... they had a comparo a while ago in a mag..wif the S2K, RX-8, 350Z. you can take a look at their instrumented findings..

but i the powerband in the Z is intoxicating..the S2K is a little short in the power dept.

I'm all for power (hell I want to buy a Cobra or a Vette as a second car) but out of these two I think the S2K still wins purely because it offers a more refined sensorial experience.

If you want a track comparison, take a look at the video on the heel/toe thread. They are very close - and now with the changes to the S2K, it has become a much better daily driver.

what are you going to use it for? daily driver or weekend use? I would go with the S2K... but I'm biased because I owned one. If you are above 6', you will suffer from back pains for any drive over an hour in the S2k though. One of the main reasons I sold the car to my brother. Anyway, it's the only car to put a grin on my face each and every time getting in.

350Z got more balls. And yes there are a few problems with the Z and G35C but it's all under warranty anyways.

Should check out www.my350z.com and www.clubs2ki.com. But let me warn you about the guys at the S2K forums cause apprently 99% of them thinks their S2K is same as a Ferrai and be able to smoke anything on the streets!!!

The 350Z is nice....but in all honesty, the S2000 provides a better connection between driver and road. The S2000 is the closest thing to a streetable race car that you can buy for around $30k. I would go for the S2000 for a true driver's car. However, if you're looking for a more balanced and less intense driving experience, the 350Z would make a good choice.

I would argue the MRS is even more of a race car than the S2K, it weighs bout 800lbs less is a bit slower but its handling is even more impressive due to its MR layout and light weight. too bad it isn't avaialbe in canada.

Gilbo, was that MT comparison the '04 or '03 S2k?

The only surprise in that comparo was the S2k's poor braking. Otherwise, they confirmed that for straight-line grunt, the Z is your car, but the S2k outhandles it.

Actually, I've driven both the MR-S and the S2000 and I feel that the S2000 has a more direct steering feel. The MR-S is more like a Miata in that it is set up as more a fun to drive, but more relaxed roadster where as the S2K feels more sharp edged and direct.

You're right about the MR-S weighing less though.

I know some of you (including me) are a crazy Honda fan. But I'm sorry. There is no comparsion between the S2K and 350Z. I think the only Honda car that could compare to the 350Z is the NSX. But we all know that the NSX costs 3 times more than the 350Z. Don't get me wrong, S2K is a really nice car but it DOES NOT compare to a 350Z.

If you can't get G35 Coupe then go with S2000. I just don't trust Nissan quality, I know Infinity is also Nissan but I heard the quality is quite different than Nissan.

Why not? Other than interior room they are quite close. They are both $30K two door sports cars with similar features.

I know it was Gilbo but you make it sound like MR-S is just off the mark of an S2k. Plus I think the more fun to drive factor lies in the S2k.

I bought a 350 when they first came out. I sold it 11 months later. That car sucks - tough ride, terrible in any weather except your sunny days. I would get anything but a 350 - my TSX is a 100X improvement.

I can't even fit into an S2000! And I'll NEVER buy a French car!

So I'd go suggest the '05 997

I'd go with the S2000. Great handling, high-revving so it feels special (nothing special owning an engine with minvans, sedans etc, no matter how great it is) and higher quality interior. IMO, the S2000 looks better too.
The 350Z has going for it, it's the hot car right now, great power at any speed, NAV available and other options the S2000 does not have. Its a great handler as well.

Both are great sports cars. I'd just go with the S2000.

I think you need to re-read my earlier post. I was just being polite instead of saying "the MR-S sucks total dick!!" I said the MR-S is a good competitor for the Miata and not the S2K.

I disagree. If you think 350Z is way better, read more review and you will find out.

If you drive both of them, you will pick S2K for sure.

Considering that Infiniti just anounced a 295hp g coupe, the z may also be getting some juice for 2005, that may change some buying decisions.

Ya know...sometimes it's not just about the horsepower. It's nice to have a lot of ponies under the hood, but honestly, most people never ever get to use all that power on the street. On the other hand, finding a car that has a nice balance of power, handling, interior comfort and quality, and exterior styling. Although the 350Z is a nice car, it's got a number of short comings that are sometimes hard to overlook. Having driven the S2000 extensively, I would honestly say that if you don't have carry a lot of stuff, it's definitely a better balanced car.
