Wow... I got lucky. I just put a deposit on a TSX tonight and am waiting for the credit check.... the 3.9% is great.

Regardless of length of term? I mean, you could get this rate on a 7-year loan or something like that? (Usually the rate goes up for a real long term.)

Thanks for the heads up. Don't know if I can get this offer as my TSX is not scheduled to show up for a few weeks. Offer ends 1/5/2004. I e-mailed my salesman to see what he could do for us.

Check around for other sources of financing too. Depending on your credit history, there are other places that will usually beat AHFC. In late November, CapitalOne was offering 3.9%, and negotiated down to 3.7%.

If you have good credit, shop around, and see what you find. Don't be afraid to ask for a lower rate too.

all this is negotiable with the dealer...

the dealer offered me about 7% and i was able to negotiate it down to 3.74% with AHFC.

we always went into the dealer being pre-approved by a credit union/bank for a car loan--and the dealer has always been able to match the interest rate.

you can probably use the 3.9% to get a better rate from another lender--which you might be able to turn around and use when negotiating with the dealer.
