2007 TSX update

I got this from my local dealer who got it from Acura from their dealer meetings.

Basically, what he told me was that the TSX is getting another update. I asked him "but they already updated it for 2006". But he said that was what he was told by Acura. Basically, they'll change the rear lights to something like the CSX. That's all he told me.

Here's another snippet for those who are looking at the 06 TSX. He didn't mention anything about the engine.

if you wish. I know my post count isn't high but what I've posted for the last 14 times weren't bs or useless info. It won't be exactly like the CSX but he said it'll be enlarged. Like you said, we'll see next year and bring up this thread again.

4th year I can see some minor changes. What they are I don't know.

Honda has always been good at keeping secrets till the last min.

go to www.acura.ca and you'll see the CSX featured there. Punks still haven't changed the '05 TSX to the '06 yet. Weak++

Yea.. the dealer is screwing with you or you are screwing with us.

No reason for Acura HQ the release that information. Is there a reason for them to hurt 06 sales?

Honda usually makes changes to their cars mid-model cycle (for example, the TSX gets the refresh for 06, as does the Accord).

I highly doubt you'll see any appearance changes when the 2007s come out.

Well think about it. Usually cars get ONE mid-cycle update right? You know, a tweak in the grille, headlights maybe, bumper, rear lights, etc etc. Well, the Accord got TWO updates. One in 05 and one in 06. No reason for them to do that. If someone told you that the 06 Accord would be updated, you'd call bluff on them too seeing how the Accord got updated for the 05 MY.

Also, how would this hurt 06 sales? Sure people will know but I'm only saying it's the taillights and it might be enlarged. So those who like the current design would stick with the 06. Heck, we haven't even seen any pictures so people may respond as Huckleberry did.

intelligent key is being offered for the CSX as an extra option, so here is my suggestion:

on all acuras comming 2007, there will be I-key on all models

Is it now? I must've missed that option when I perused through the accessory list. I only saw stuff like auto dimming mirror w/ compass and AUX Input ($134 for that installed).

It can hurt by putting off the purchase. The manufacturer would rather sell it now than wait for 2007. Logically, to enlarge the taillights you'll need new stampings to punch out the sheetmetal (and new molds for the taillights). These stampings cost millions to make and have a duty cycle of 100s of thousands of units. You need to get to a couple hundred thousand to break even on the press. With only one year left of production, it is doubtful you'll ever reap the reward of the change. This is why you rarely see sheetmetal changes mid cycle.

So, does CSX stand for Civic Sedan eXperiment? That is a quite the quick rebadging if I ever saw one. I mean at least with the TSX you can't get a Honda (in the USA/Canada) that looks like it with a H on it.
Anyway whatevah

Ok, so after a little more looking I can see they redid the headlight styling and possibily some interior things too. But the main body structure is the same.
Which I guess is not uncalled for for the luxury division of a car maker. Nissan and Toyota due the same thing. I'm just use to the Acura really having styles that you can't get in the standard Honda lineup.

Acura has done this for many years now. The CSX replaced the EL. Both the CSX and EL are Canada-only models and are rebranded, upscale Civics. Not sure about the old ELs (as I never really looked), but the CSX gets 155hp as opposed to the Civic's 140hp.

Ah so it's a Canada thing. Well you can keep them up there in the great white north eh.
155 vs 140hp is something I guess. Though putting the Civic SI 197hp engine in it would have been better.

I agree with the 197hp. The CSX does get paddle shifters (as well as the regular SportShift), though.

You know the "new" Honda Fit is going to have paddle shifters too!

You'd think the CSX will be better with an extra 15 ponies but it feels the same. I think the extra weight on the CSX negates any gain provided by the bigger engine.

a lot of cars are getting more than 1 update now.

hell the g35 is getting an entire reskin after they already redid the interior (which they are doing again and probably jacking up the price).

i could see acura easily adding , paddle shifters, LED taillights, intelligent key (a lot of new cars have this, and it is just sort of tacked on ... mazdaspeed6 and g35 sedan for example where there is still a spot to turn a plastic thing that is like a key, unlike the true ones with just a button like the e90 bmws and lexus IS) , and other relatively low r&d items. if it will keep people buying the car and keeping it fresh enough to sell why wouldnt they.

i dont think they will do anything drastic though, it wouldnt be worth the investment. honda is a smart company, and the tsx at least visually looks fine so i doubt they would even change the shape of the taillights.

The TSX is selling as well as they need it to. Honda (as you said) is a smart company, they have it "ingrained" in company philosophy that they won't do something if it's not profitable. They won't do anything drastic until the new car arrives.

a new looking tsx?

werent we fed with rumors abotu a TSX coupe for 07? not too long ago?

and that pic of the TSX convertible... it is photoshopped. the guys headrest and backseats (if any) are all messed up.

and 07 is actually coming up very soon. they should actually have the 07 model finshed already if they were planning on redesigning it because they need to get the car into production for 07 which is.... less than 4 months away.

i tink im with the bandwagon on this... that salesman you talked to got wrong info

I do not generally believe anything that salesmen say, though he seemed pretty confident in at least beleiving that it would be available in spring 07.

Info on Acuras 07 lineup has been released... though it is going to be updated again, they basically said tsx get Tire pressure monitoring. No mention of body changes...
