2007 TSX standard alarm

Hey,

How is the alarm that comes with the 2007 TSX? Is it worth keeping? Can features be added to it?

Thanks,

Dave

This is the type of question that will get you flamed... I'll be nice and answer briefly... yes the tsx comes with factory alarm system, no you cant take out the alarm can only disable it, no you cant add features..... and the last one.... look in the manual for further explaination.

Thanks. I dont have the car yet so I dont have a manual. I have a great aftermarket alarm on my WRX but if the standard alarm is fine I will not upgrade when I buy the car.

If you have a 2007 have most people diabled the factory alarm and added an aftermarket one????

I'm going to assume that the 07 alarm is the same as my 04. Under that assumption, the alarm is a simple one, with one great feature. It arms automatically 30 seconds after locking the doors (or immediately if you push the door-lock button twice on your FOB). It will be set off if doors (or trunk?) are opened before disabling the alarm. There is no motion detector nor is there a glass break sensor. However, the great feature is the immobilizer. Your keys have a transmitter that are coded to your cars immobilizer. The ECU is locked and will not function without the transmitter in the key unlocking the immobilizer. So your car will not function unless your keys are used. Your car can be broken into, or maybe even towed, but it won't be hotwired and driven away.

"Most people" haven't done anything to it. The peope who care about alarms though, they put in aftermarket ones.

They standard alarm is, well, standard. Engine immobilizer, along with honk & flash when you do something from inside the car without using the remote to disable the lock/alarm first.

Yes, you can add features such as glass breakage sensor or impact/motion sensor by tapping it to any existing triggering signal (door, hood, trunk).

I find it hard to install an aftermarket alarm when the car already has one. I've used Cliffords in the past (very good), but that was for cars that didn't have one initially. The TSX lets you open the trunk and arm the alarm from the key fob, and it has the immobilizer, so I'll just funnel my money elsewhere - CAI, header...
