2007/2008 TSX Navigation Splash Screen Modify
For all those who have a 2007 or 2008 TSX (navigation version 4.5x and up i think?) and have tried to use Bysin's method to hack the splash screen, you'll know that it doesn't work. Guicide then followed that with a method for 2006 Civics/TSX/Accord/Ridgeline, which also doesn't apply anymore for 2007/2008 TSX'ers.
I'll start by asking that we keep this thread as technical as possible, for all others who don't care about the specifics on how we hack the 2007/2008 models this thread isn't for you...I will make a how-to when we succeed.
For starters, the splash screen for 07/08 is made up of 3 elements now (used to be just one .bmp), Opening_Base.bmp, Navi_Title.bmp, and Acura_Logo.bmp (it should be obvious what specific part of the splash screen they are). Long story short, there has to be some sort of file (I'm guessing a .dll or .exe) that calls each one of the .bmp files and then positions them with some sort of cooridnates on the screen. I think this is the file that we need to find, and then modify/remove what files it's calling to assemble the splash screen.
Things I've determined so far:
- While Opening_Base.bmp is 480x234, the other elements are much smaller resolution, meaning that they are actually being positioned on the screen, rather than just overlayed with some sort of transparency.
- That's about it unfortunately...
Anyone else here have more programming experience with myself? Can you help?
Thanks all.

What's different about the 2007/2008? The equipment is the same, and I believe the discs are the same (white DVD).
I don't have the later versions though...I have whatever my 06 has (which was easily modified).
If 4.62 ever becomes available (currently backordered), I'll dig in and see what has changed on the disc. I was originally looking into removing the nag screen, but then I got busy. Now I figure why waste my time when I'm going to get 4.62 (for the time zone fix).

The 2006 splash screen was made of a single .bmp, which is why it was easily modified. the 2007/2008 are different in that their splash screens are made of three elements. You're correct in that the hardware is the same among all 2006 and up models, meaning that the different splash screens are attributed to the version of DVD disc being used.
I successfully accomplished it a couple weeks ago. I made the 2 other bmp files basically 1 pixel files, and you cannot see them on my splash screen. Still had to save in the right format, convert to 16bit bmp, etc.
Bysin.exe is still what you need to extract the bmps from the bin file and to update the bin file with the new bmp files.
I didn't write down my directions but I can answer questions about how I did it. The hardest part was juggling the rigid file size limitations and resolutions. It took some creative resizing and copying/pasting in a couple programs to get my image scaled right and maintaining the proper aspect ratio.
The actual updating of the .bin file, burning the few files to the CDR and forcing the car to redownload the new bin file from the CDR inserted into the nav unit in the trunk, was easy. Resizing and getting the image file(s) right was the pain.
