2007 Or 2008 Padel Shifters?

HELLO ALL,

I am curious now that Acura is releasing the "RDX" (if you haven't seen it...you should) they have finally released engine info. and I am not as intrested in the RDX as I am with the fact that they seem to have used the TSX motor (2.4L I4). The RDX is Turbo'd, and has Padel shifters! They haven't come right out and said that the RDX is the 2.4 I4 but they are showing that its a 16 value 4 cylinder, and I really can't see them using the RSX 2.0L motor (not enough torque nonturbo).

Anyways the stock horsepower of this new "SUV" is 240! with 260 torque!
If they had a TSX with those ponies under the hood it would virtually void any small time after market parts. just a thought.....

Does anyone know if the TSX's future may share the same goodies? I am about 1-2 months from purchasing an 2006 TSX and I may hold off if I can get one a year from now with a turbo option or padel shifts!
Please responed if you have info or comments or whatever! Thanks for your time!

also....what are the best add-ons at the lowest cost to do to a TSX. I will want to add some ponies and torque but I dont want a "loud" and "abnoxious" ride and I want to only do the things that add alot but are going to led to problems down the road or cost a bunch.

MT Vs. AT ... WHAT IS THE SPEED DIF. 0-60MPH?

thanks again
vipertp

i know this is too long!!!

The RDX uses a K23. I'm sure the new TSX will have some of those features, but nobody knows for sure. It'll probably be out in 2007 as an 08 model.

The TSX won't be revised again until MY2008 at the absolute earliest and even that is doubtful. I would say that MY2009 is most likely. Possibility of the turbo engine is high and I imagine that it only makes sense to carry the transmission over as well, which should allow for the paddle shifters.

As for the turbo motor itself, the motor is based off of a K-series motor platform, according to Honda, though there are substantial changes in order to accomodate the turbo. I imagine that in a sport sedan application, the motor will be tuned for more horsepower and a little less torque so I would expect the numbers to be more along the lines of 260 hp and 240 torque.

Personally, I think those only belong on F1 Indy cars or the BMW M3. Ha both have same engine!

Not a fan of auto paddle shifters, so I hope it doesn't happen.

Thanks for the replies!
Sorry about the nor-eastern backwoods French Canadian spelling of "paddle shifters". I'm an Engineer not an English professor.

I test drove the new IS350 and its paddle shifters were fun....although Lexus messed up by not offering the same motor with a MT. I would like to see the option added to the AT of the TSX. I know it's the same thing as triptrontic but it's just a fun feature, I like the paddle shifters.

Based on what I've heard so far, I would have to say no. Which means that this motor has tons more room for developing more power. Plus, considering that the compression ratio is just shy of 9:1, adding direct injection would allow for a big boost compression ratio and thus, power output, without a bump in displacement.

I love MT, but here in Reno, Nevada. Its bummer to bummer traffic and I live between two speed traps. So if I do get to exceed the speed limit its an almost gar-ron-teeed ticket!

So I am leaning toward the AT. Now.... no question, in the test drives I have done the fun factor is all MT, but triptronic stills allows for some fun factor and the total convience of Automatic.

Plus I keep cars for long time (6-10 years). will any one be able to drive MT in the year 2016?
I sold a MT car a year ago and lost out on the first tweenty intrested buyers becuz of MT.

So what's the real performance difference between the two? (in specs.)

One more question....
What are the most effective aftermarket parts to add to an 06 TSX to add 0-60 performace?

Thanks!!
