2006 TSX Voice Recognition

Do non-navi trim levels have this feature? I was watching TSX Auto diaries on acura.com and the guy says, "Temperature 72"

So the car actually would change the thermostat for you?

Edit: Ah crap I saw further that site says "Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition" Oh well.

I have a pretty nice GPS with CitySelect software on it so I really couldn't justify the extra cost of the navigation.

i tend to think its a pretty lame gimmick. i have an 05 with navi (2 months) and well...

i suppose i speak pretty fast in that , he's from southern california and speaks fast sort of way. but well, to really get it to work correctly i have to speak pretty unnaturally so i basically never use the voice features.

i suppose if you speak exactly like the nav woman then it could be useful.

Not really a gimmick, its a safety and convience feature. Perhaps you are not saying the proper commands? I'm from NY and speak pretty fast myself, speaking unaturally usually causes wrong results for me, the more natural I speak, the better the results.

Of course nothing is going to work 100% of the time, but the Acura Nav system is about as good as it gets.

The general impression that I have garnered from this forum is that the voice recognition system is not accurate to a point where it is a pain. I have seen posts suggesting that it is easier to use the manual/touch-screen controls. Do others share the same feeling?

not at all. I adore the voice driven systems. The first couple of days I had it I tried seeing how fast I could read out numbers before the system messed up. It's friggin incredible.

i only use voice recognition when im in an area im unfamiliar and need to look for an atm or gas station, and when switching cd discs.

also i use VR when i have friends in the car...good conversation starter lol. ppl are always impressed when they ride with me: "omg, your car can talk!"

i'm finding the only things it has trouble with are the way i say certain numbers. if i say "one seventy two" it might not get it. but if i say "one hundred seventy two" it picks it up fine. i'm thinking it has a certain way it needs to hear numbers. words, i really havent had trouble with words.
