2006 a-spec body kit install question

I have purchased the A-spec bodykit off of ebay and tried to install it myself. I only got the sides and rear. I looked at the instructions on hondaacuraworld.com and for the sides they worked fine. But I am having troubles with the rear. The directions for the 06 and 04/05 were different and they only have the guides for the 04/05. I installed it myself and now theres a 1cm gap where the back is (around the rear reflectors) but the sides are fine. Can anyone help me out. Anyone do it themselves and can give some advice, or better yet, can someone point me in the direction of some installion manual for the 2006 rear under spoiler? Thanks.

I just had mine installed yesterday at the dealership. I will probably talk to them about it on my next (first) visit as I too see a gap. I'll take pictures sometime today.

I think my 05 has a tiny bit of a gap around where yours is too. I'm going to assume that's just the way it is and there's not much i can do about that. I mean... there really isn't much i can do. I followed the directions everywhere too. It doesn't really show on my CG though since if the gap is black it sort of blends in.

I had a black '04 TSX with ground effects also. I don't think I had any gap on those. I'm starting to wonder if there will be a recall of some sort on the 2006 ones. I haven't called the dealership yet. I probably should do that tomorrow.

the front gap is because the kit was screwed in when it was tight against the body, one of my sides on my 04 has a small gap because I didn't press it in hard when I screwed it in

Actually... i take back what i said about the kit having a tiny gap. I just went out there and looked and there's no gap.

What do you mean you didn't press it in hard when you screwed it in? Are you talking about the bottom bolts? Or the screws in the fender?

I just followed the instructions step by step when i installed mine and everything went fine.

The thing is, I cannot locate directions on how to install the 06 stuff. I used the directions on the 04/05 to get an idea of how to install it but everything is pretty different, even the hardware supplied is different. I have 2 rubber pieces left over that I have no idea what they are for.

You gotta love it when you're doing an install and when you're done you've got peices leftover.

But give hondaacuraworld.com a call in the morning or whoever you bought the kit from in the morning and ask them for install instructions.

I have some noticeable gaps on my TSX underbody kit as well. Mine was installed by the dealer and they told me before that the kit was kinda made like that, that it didn't fit as snuggly as the old ones.

But now I feel like the gaps are getting bigger around the taped parts so....when I go back to the dealer I'll make sure to mention it

I think the '04 body kit was perfect. It seems the '06 has some issues which may be corrected if a lot of us reported it. I will start that today when I call the dealership. I don't think it's right for the gaps to exist especially for us who live in the snow belt. Who knows what kind of havoc road salt would do when it gets in between the kit and the body of our vehicles? I could only imagine the worst!

Those rubber pieces are to go in between the body kit and the tape, to hold it flush against the bumper. I had them on my OEM kit, took them off and meant to put them on my Euro-R kit and now lost them. So I have the same slight gap on the rear of the Euro-R kit.

Thats what they are for though... to eliminate the problem you have.

Would you mind taking a picture of these plastic pieces of speak of? Maybe the installer didn't put them on mine either, causing the gap.

Thanks

Doh, where exactly do they go? My gaps are over the exhaust cut outs and rear reflectors. I will post pics of the parts when I get home from work.

I brought the car to the dealership this afternoon. They worked on it a bit. I think it's much better than how it was... Acceptable...

I actually went to the dealer today and got copies of the 06 install directions. Turns out you have to remove the bumper so the directions are completely different from the 04/05 instructions. And yes, TSXFury was right, those rubber pieces left over were to make sure that gaps dont exist on the install. So I guess I'll redo it this weekend.

not to dissapoint you but the gap on the front fender is still there...it looks as if the kit is too small or something...not saying that it is...just looks like it..kinda like it's being forced/stretched to fit on the edge of the fender ...but the rear looks much better....did they reinstall the front as well? it doesn't look too bad...otherwise..nice car...now let's see a full body shot

Yeah... Actually, I think the kit is too big. I'll just let it be unless it gets worse then at which point, I'll take it back in. We'll see. I'll have to try and remember that I have a full year warranty on these.

Not entirely sure what they tried. They might have added more double sided tapes. I agree with you. The rears are so much better which actually surprised me. I thought they would have a better chance of fixing the front than the rear. Oh well...

I think my car may be getting overexposed but here's a couple

Yea, looks awesome. If it really bothers you, put some more double sided tape in the spot where there's a gap. That oughta close it off.

$1,200 installed.
Some members bought the kit and installed it themselves. There's definitely significant savings going that route.
