2006 Acura TSX

with 11k miles for $22k. You guys think this is a good deal? I requested more information from the dealer IE if it is a clean title and what now. And is there any known problems with the 06 TSX?

Try offering a lower price. I have a 06 6MT tsx that has been serviced by a acura dealer. Love it and recommend it.

For comparison, I bought a CPO 07 non-navi tsx with 12k mileage last year for 18.5k plus TTL

This was a better deal; about right I'd say. 22K for a 6 year old TSX is way too much (in my opinion). Even for an 08 with about the same mileage that would be top dollar.

Miles are too low. 11k would suggest infrequent driving, and probably too little maintainence. I would like to see that age of vehicle with 5 oil changes (once a year, regardless of miles), one or two brake flushes, a power steering flush, a coolant flush, and a tranny flush.

Super low miles are only attractive on collector cars, on a daily driver they mean stuff probably hasn't been properly taken care of. The 07 w/12k is about 2.5-3k a year...the minimum I'd feel OK about. An 06 with 11k is looking at less than 2k a year. There are a lot of things that can be damaged by not driving as much or more than by driving alot.

Hm... Yeah the low milages sounds a bit strange. I contacted the dealer he said it is clean title, no damages reported and etc. Going to look at it tomorrow if I have time. I really want the 2nd Gen but idk.

For that kind of money I'd be looking at a TL instead.

I agree-check the car out-could be either a excellent deal or a pass it bye. Ask lots of questions-good luck.

For $22,000, you are knocking at the door on a RDX, TL, TL-S, or RL. I love my 06 TSX; but, unless it had a S/C, full A-spec body kit, a-spec suspension, aftermarket tires/rims, I/H/E, etc... that may be a little too much for an 06.

I disagree with any of the "dangers" in buying a low mileage car. My father has an 05 Toyota Highlander with like no miles on it and he is very considerate of the maintenance. If the price is right, I would be all over this car. It's like getting an almost new car. Any maintenance issues that may (big "may") have been neglected should be easily remedied, and with that few miles, what the heck could go wrong anyway? It's a 6 year old car (could be 5 1/2 depending on build date)(which is easy to find for those that don't know that. It's on the sticker at the base of the door post between the doors on the driver's side), so I'd just plan on replacing all the fluids and all the filters (maybe tires) and you should be good to go. Just figure that expenditure into the price (though a reasonable person would probably plan on doing all those things to the car anyway regardless of mileage).

Low mileage shouldn't effect the price in the same way that high mileage does (in reverse of course), though a dealer will try to sell that. Age should be the determining factor here. In my opinion, the car in question is like a $16K car max (and that's with NAV). But, you know what they say....... opinions are ***holes, everyone has one.

Sorry Simba, but low to no miles is a recipe for serious engine and brake issues, UNLESS a heavy preventative schedule has been followed.

I would want to see oil changes every year (minimum) to protect the engine.

Brake flush every three years (minimum) to keep the system from internally corroding.

Tranny flush is just because the additives will breakdown over time.

One other issue is that any flaw that would normally be covered by warranty are now gonna be on you. For an Acura, that's not a huge risk, but...

Brakes and axles are known weaknesses of the 1st Gen TSX. Some car are prone to electrical issues, and some have tranny issues. None of these are likely to have manifested yet.

Power steering changeout/flush (see above...both brake fluid and power steering fluid are hygroscopic)

Coolant change, except that Honda now says their stuff is good for 6 years...maybe.

I bought an 2006 black Auto, 38,000 miles with navi with oem floor mats and trunk for 17000, I found mine on eBay of all things, but for an 06 with that low of miles id give an offer of about 18000-20500, others may disagree though.

I think the price is way too high - $22K for a 6 year old car? Maybe its only gone 11K miles, but everthing else has still aged - belts, hoses, etc. I didn't pick up what part of the country you are in either, but low miles in harsh environments can put more strain on a car than you'd think.

If you really like it, spend a few bucks to have an independent mechanic check it out and see what they'd say abou the maintenance. If it's good, and they drop the price a bit, you may have something. I have an 06 and I love it.

Simba, should I say takes one to know one?

Oh well, I don't take offense. I just don't think your opinion is correct, and you disagree with mine.

For what it's worth, I paid $20k for an '07 with 24,000 miles roughly a year and a half ago (June 2010).

That seems like a ridiculously low amount of mileage though. And for that kind of money, I might pass and look for an '08.

Navi or non-navi? Any extras?

That's what I paid for my non-navi 2006 with 37k miles ... in 2007 (dealer CPO). I would get a used car price report from Consumer Reports (and before someone pooh-poohs this, stfu getting information is never a bad thing), and ask a bank loan officer to look up the "black book" value of that year model with that mileage. I suspect it's lower.

I would ask to see all service records ... if the dealer can't show that it was regularly serviced at an Acura dealer, I'd back away slowly with my hand on my wallet. I'd also ask the dealer (it's an Acura dealer, right) to offer more than 30 days warranty, due to the exceptionally low mileage. Bear in mind that the MID maintenance minder reminders for oil and other inspections are based on mileage (I *think* I haven't heard that it incorporates time as well), the owner may've been prompted to bring it in only once or twice during the last 5 years. That would be BAD. I agree with others, I'd have the brake, PS, tranny, coolant fluids completely changed out ... at a dealer. Complete check of belts, hoses, etc. Basically, a 60,000 mile servicing even if it's only got 11,000.

FWIW 2006 is a sweet year to get ... has all the gadgets save the TPMS, can be reflashed by Hondata, has slight performance tweaks that the 2004, 2005 model years don't. Just don't pay too much.

I meant no offense, just that you "proved" my point. I fully believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and try to make a point of qualifying most of what I write with that disclaimer ("in my opinion"). And I think varying opinions are the main reason that these forums thrive (in my opinion).
