Anyone can guess a delivery date. And regardless of what anyone may promise things like a sunk ship or a train wreck can't be forecast.

It will lower the value of our car a bit. But that's okay. I'll have mine for 5 years.

I'm trying to convince the wife to buy NOW NOW NOW because we'll have better deals on the 2004 than on the 2005. I don't really need a new car right now, should I wait? I think I'll probably get a better deal on a 2004 that a dealer would have in stock, but the 2005 might have a couple of new features and better resale value. What do you think?

Quisi Important

I really don't understand why people are so dissident about purchasing a 2004 model instead of the 2005. The reason why it is not a big deal, is because mainstream detail in the car will not change, maybe new accessories, but overall you can bet your bottom dollar the specs. will be the same. Also, you will save some money on the new 2004 instead of the 2005 beacuse you have more buying power, because the dealer will be motivated to push the sales to increase space on the dealer lot... Don't be sorry that you have bought one or in the processing of buying one in the near future, I am not. Peace

Ah, but some of us would rather have a better chance of having fewer rattles and/or other issues on a second year vehicle rather than the virgin model. Also, price may or may not have little, or anything, to do with it. I'm not waiting in order to have more accessories....

I wouldn't worry as much about the rattles considering the 04 has been in production for nearly 18 months, giving the plant plenty of chances to improve the finished product.

Plus, at the tail end of a production year, many times subtle improvements for the next model year are already being incorporated.

Just be glad your not buying a car built in America on a friday.

Usually you can request an extended lease for 1 or 2 months and also your dealer usually willing to give you a loaner car for about a week of time before you new car arrive. So you can try to work it out.

It is wiser to get a 05 model instead of 04 model since your 04 will be already depeciated as a 1 year old car than a 05 model, but if you expected to keep the car 6+ year then it will offset by the extra discount

rattles are not an issue for me. For those who have try to listen to every little noise etc then there are probably small rattles in any car. the 04 model is great and you should get it if you are considering the tsx. i doubt the 05 will have too many changes since this is the first year.

I've been waiting since December 2002... I think I can hold off a couple more months to get an 05. I long ago decided on the TSX over any other car. The hard part will be making sure the dealer doesn't know that :-)

I also decided long ago on the TSX, but have been anxiously saving and waiting for the '05. I hope I can act too "un-interested" when it comes to making a deal. On the other hand, '05 is another year for all those other cars that are direct competitors and will probably get a second look for comparison.

Rattles are not an issue for me.....I have a late model 04 which I picked up in April. I believe Acura has addressed some of those issues already, although I still have the seat shifting problem.

Unless they add memory seating, I don't think any feature is worth the wait or extra money to extend a lease for a month or two. The discount that one can receive on an 04 would probably be good enough to get me to not even consider an 05.

An 04 bought in Aug will have about the same depreciation as an 05 bought in Sept after being driven off the lot. The only diff between the two is that you're likely to get a bigger discount on the 04 and a few more features on the 05.

When you try to sell or trade a 04 and a 05 with same mileage then you will know what I mean. I got nail by this before.

I'm going to be buying an '04. Hell, if you wait for the next model year all the time, you'll never have a new car! Seriously, though, you do have more buying power at the end of the model year. You also have more power at the end of the month, when sales quotas come into the equation. I've been to the dealer a few times now, and the sales staff know I know everything about this car. In fact, on of the salespeople said to me, "I can't tell you anything, can I?" LOL. I know more about the competition than most of them do, so getting a deal should be fairly easy for me. I suggest to anyone considering this car to do a LOT of research on the 'net, and get quotes from net dealers and other Acura dealers in the area if possible. This way, you can hit them with a lower quote on the price, which also gives you a lot more bargaining power.

Just spoke to sales person last night and he said the same thing. They will start making it in Sept and be here in Oct. They start taking deposites in Sept. I believe.

He believes this is what changes there will be:

1- XM
2- power passenger seat

Nothing confirmed.......... take it for what it's worth.........

Once again, listening to a dealer and then passing on probable bogus info is of not much use.

doesn't necessarily bogus. Dealerships get info in bits and pieces. We can assume that 05 will show along with other vehicles in Oct. When I've asked before...same person he said he had no clue. He seemed pretty quick to respond this time. As far as the accessories.....it's all speculation.

i would assume XM would be integrated so you'd have to swap out the entire unit.

Buy the 04 over the 05' two resons

1. You can try to negotiate a better deal

2. Say you want to sell the car in a year. if you have a 04 with 30K miles on it and you have a 05 with 30K mile on the it, and you bought them close to the same time The 05 will have or look like a high milage car. as the 04 will look normal or less the 04 models bought in the begining of release of the TSX.

Better to get a 05 model. Usually in the 2nd year, most bugs are fixed from the first year a car is released.

From the link:

Honda plans to offer XM in a total of seven 2005 Acura and Honda autos. The automaker plans to reveal specifics later this year.

For the 2004 model year, XM is standard on the Acura RL, Acura TL and some Honda Accord models. XM is a dealer option on the 2004 Honda Pilot, Honda Odyssey, Honda S2000 and Acura TSX.

It seems obvious that the 7 cars to get XM standard for 2005 would be the 7 mentioned above
