20,000 miles

My TSX has 20,000 miles on it. Has anyone had the 20,000 mile maintenance done and how did it cost? I know it helps the re sale value but is it necessary on top of the oil change. Thanks

I always do the maintence that Acura suggests, not the dealer's suggestions. Those dealer recommended services are generally a major ripoff and really dont' add all that much.

The engineers that designed the car put the schedule in the manual for a reason. The dealer sometimes tells you to do something else for another reason.

Hmmm, are we all talking about the same model: 2004 TSX? According the the Acura Owner Link Web site, the 20,000-mile service IS a normal scheduled service. Here's the description at the Acura (i.e., not just a dealer) web site:

20,000 mi/32,000 km/1 yr Scheduled Maintenance:

Replace engine oil.
Rotate tires (follow pattern on page 276 of your owner's manual).
Replace engine oil filter.
Inspect front and rear brakes.
Check parking brake adjustment.
Inspect tie-rod ends, steering gearbox and boots.
Inspect suspension components.
Inspect drive shaft boots.
Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS).
Inspect all fluid levels, condition of fluids and check for leaks.
#Inspect exhaust system.
#Inspect fuel lines and connections.
# = See information on maintenance and emissions warranty, last column, page 233 in your owner's manual.

Check engine oil and coolant at each fuel stop.
Check and adjust valve clearance, cold engine, only if noisy.

View another maintenance interval:

Normal
The "normal" schedule is fine for most drivers, even if they occasionally drive in severe conditions.

Acura in Pleasanton (CA) charged me $230.

Had it done about two weeks ago. Besides the resale value you mentioned it also raises the red flags if anything is starting to wear out.

So the 20k Service maintenance shouldn't cost more than $200?

I got lucky with my car, I had the 20K service done this week. The orignal price was quoted at 189.99. But since I do my own oil changes, they took off 30 dollars and then when they went to change my air filter they saw the CAI and took off 40. I was thinking, holy shit, 40 bucks for an air filter! That is such a rip. So in the end I paid 114. Oh yeah, and I they also replaced my battery which is only a year and a half old b/c they said my car was slow to start. And it still starts the same now with the new battery.

So see, it actually pays to mod your car.

I'm going in on Saturday to get it done. So they should take some $ off for me having my CAI??? Plus they won't be rotating the tires because they are aftermarket and the shop that installed the wheels and tires does it for free. So should I expect mor $ taken off???

I'm taking my 2004 in tom. morning for my 20K service and it's free! The dealership that I bought from does free service for the first 2 years or 24K. They've since improved their offer to include free oil changes for life. The main reason that I bought my TSX from this dealer....

I just had my 20,000 maintenance. It cost around $270. I used Acura of Boston. They subtracted something like $20 bucks, because I provided my own oil (Mobil 1 Synthetic).

I do my own oil changes every 5,000 miles. Only on 20,000 and 40,000 will I bring it to the dealer. After the warrantee I will probably use my own mechanic.

I usually buy Acura and Honda parts for the TSX. Honda parts are the same parts that get used in the Acura, but cheaper.

I remember that my 20k maintanence is only an oil change and tire rotation, fluid check and add some additive... it cost me about $110.... They cleaned the air filter, not change. My 30k cost me $280 cuz of air filter change, fluid flush, and everything else mentioned above.
