10,000 Miles Service Question

Hey guys,
I'm going to bring my 05 TSX into the dealer for 10,000 miles service. According to the dealer I bought my car from, they said that it will cost 130 dollars for oil change, tire rotation, wheel balancing, suspensions checking, topping fluid levels, etc. Is it suppose to cost this much or is there anywhere else I can get it for a better price. The dealership I was referring to is DCH Montclair Acura.

You may want to try a local Honda dealership, if any are reputable. I went to Duval Honda in Jax for my 15k service, and only paid $230. When I called Acura dealership to get an estimate, it was $349 + tax. So I saved quite a bit.

But if I remember correctly, $130 is about how much Acura wanted to charge me for my 10k, but since I didn't have the wheel lock with me they couldn't do the tire part and just changed it to a basic oil change.

On a side note, the other enjoyable part about going to Honda was while I waited, they let me test drive an S2000

I now go to my Honda dealership for oil changes which saves me $13 vs going to Acura. Plus I like the Honda service department a lot better. I will now have to remember that Honda can do my services.

As far as oil changes, tire rotation and topping off fluids, you can do yourself. If you want the wheel balance, just go to a tire place for that. Save the labor charges.

My local Acura dealers wanted ~$160 for the 10k service. A Honda dealership did it for $90. Highly recommended.

Hmm...I'd love to do it but I don't have any time. Thanks for the notes guys!

Hasn't anyone wonder why my car only has 10k miles on it? =x

I usually will do all my oil changes after my warranty is up. Buy a case of oil and a few oil filters and I'm good for a while.

I was a little surprised by the low milage on your 2005. I hit 10k miles in about 7 months. Is there a story behind it?

I went to the Honda dealer for my 20,000 service and they wanted almost $170. I called the Acura dealer and they wanted $129. Honda also stated that if they found any thing wrong that was a warranty issue, that they could not fix it. They said that it would have to be taken to an Acura dealer. I tried the Honda first because I Heard on here that it was cheaper and it is also closer for me. I'll drive the extra distance now though.

In Sacramento, the local Honda dealers charge between $99-$119 for a minor service, with includes an oil change, tire rotation, fluid top-off, and inspection. The Acura dealerships probably charge $20-$30 more, so the difference isn't drastic.

The price of these "minor" services are difficult to swallow, but they are just the going rate. Dealerships have to make a living. If everyone walked in asking for an oil change + tire rotation in an a la carte form, they'd go out of business.

cuz you have no life?? lol jk. seriously i think all services are overrated. im at 77k and not one dealer service yet and my car runs like money. granted i can do most of the stuff myself. as far as tire balancing is concerned...do you even feel the car shake? i gone through 2 sets of tires and im on my 3rd and i never needed my tires rebalanced.

Only '06+ has the MID, which tells you service A/B or whatever. The '04 & '05s don't have that, you just go by the service manual which goes by 10k, 20k, 30k etc. services.

I feel that my rotor is warped. I lightly hold onto the brake and the car shakes as it creeps.
