07 cold start rattle

07 150k just got it about a month ago

bad rattle coming from engine when started cold it sounds pretty bad! It goes away after a second and drives super smooth. A co worker that owned 2 Tsx said that it was coming from the accessory belt but I don’t think its That. Do these cars have the dreadful VTC actuator problem?

Any ideas?

PS
what is a 3x3?

Probably VTC actuator. Park on an opposite incline as you do now and see if it goes away. Or try using a more stable oil. It usually happens (for me) near the end of the oil life, when the oil starts to thin out.

A 3x3 is a type of trans oil service. Drain. Then fill. then repeat 2 more times.

Is an opposite incline a decline?

Yes. Or if the left rear corner is declined...then try opposing it by parking so LR is inclined. If the right side is parked up higher...try parking so the left is up higher.

Whatever you're doing....do the thing that is the least like it.

Keep trying combinations til you see that the rattle subsides.

VTC rattle happens because oil drains out of the actuator. So...usually, switching inclines helps.
