06 Floormat Question

I have the parchment interior on my 06, and went to the dealership to purchase a set of black floormats for the car. Since it is an 06, the right rear floormat has a GROMMET in it to keep it from getting pushed under the passenger seat (and messing up the pass. airbag sensor).

When I purchased the replacement set, there was NO GROMMET. This was the set marked for the 06.

All Phoenix Acura dealers are out of stock on the ACTUAL part number, but the part guy showed me the computer and it said to use the NON-GROMMET verison if out of the GROMMET version.

Anyone see a problem with using the NON-GROMMET floormat?

i don't see that using a non-grommet floormat will cause problem........ since the bottom of the mats had thousands of pins, it will hold the mats really good (already, w/o the grommet) inside your car.

i think there wont be a fit problem since the mats dotn have holes in them they would sit on top of the grommet.... i wish the 05s had the grommet since my back floor mats get shoved around like crazy..

I am surprised to hear it doesn't have the hole. My '06 came with floormats, and it has them. In fact, I ordered the '06 all-season and it had the hole too. If the previous years didn't have them, more than likely the mats you got were not for an '06.

Regardless, I would think you should be okay. The one thing you may want to do is remove the hook from the floor so the mat lays down flat.

If it were me, I would return them, and try to pick them up from another dealer. Who knows, you may even get them at a lower price. I got mine from Acura of Escondido's eBay store. Great price and great service.

Those eyelets are USELESS.
Been owning 2 years/23K - never bothered to have mat hooked in, too much trouble.
I want ot be able to take it out & put back in easily & quickly for cleaning
The mat never moved at all.

If those eyelets don't even exist for 04/05, why would this be a problem for 06 ?

Fuckle, there is an airbag sensor under the seat in the '06 that senses the pressure from the passsenger and adjusts the opening rate of the pass front airbag. If the floormat pushes up on the bottom of the sensor, it messes with the reading (I was told).
