'06 Early Owner Impressions
Thought I'd start a thread for questions, answers, and photos.
We got my Wife's '06 TSX last Wednesday November 16. It had 6 miles on the clock and a VIN ending in 0000055. It was the only one that came in it's shipment to our dealer. We live in Portland, Oregon and have a seaport where a lot of cars come through from the Pacific.
I've been asked if the engine is stronger. I hesitate to answer too positively, because I never owned a pre-'06 and only know them from about 4 test-drives. I initially thought that it felt slightly stronger in the low-end. I am beginning to think that it is more than slightly stronger.
We chose a 6-Speed manual, mostly because we felt that the power was just adequate and would be too week as an automatic. Now with our '06, we are starting to think that an auto would be okay. My wife thinks that the clutch pedal is slightly stiffer than the pre-06 demos we drove. She also thinks that the added power makes it a little more difficult to drive smoothly. I'm not sure if this it just having a new car that is not broken in yet or if the engine and drive-train improvements have made it a slight bit more touchy/responsive.
The Navi is nice. It's fast and it's a joy to just say street names and addresses without typing in each letter/number (is that new?). The bluetooth Hands-free is the key to using a cell phone safely in the car. After the one-time setup, the phone is automatically connected with the car every time you start the engine. When someone calls you, the radio goes off and the info screen shows you the caller id. Just press the steering wheel button and talk. Its no different than talking to a passenger. You setup a voice phone book and all you do to place a call is say, "Call So-in-so." The info screen displays signal strength and battery status. Very trick. The setup literally takes you through everything. If your caller is soft spoken, just use the car's volume controls to turn them up.
The wipers are very trick. Low-profile. I live in the NW and am actually looking forward to some rain so that we can test them out. They look like they would resist lifting on the hiway much better than typical blades. Also, unless the arms are a different length, they look like they might fit on pre-06 arms. They are so low that when in the rest position, they are lower than the hood.
Enough type, here are some pics: (sorry about dirt, been drivin')

I think I want an 06
But in fairness, I think its very difficult for you to compare the power of a 06 vs an 04 or 05 based on you not owning one. Unless there really is a VERY noticeable difference in power which is possible just not likely IMO. I hope to take an 06 out for a test drive on Saturday when I'm at the dealer for maintenance.
Congrats

I hope you do get to drive an '06, I'm eger to read a pre-06 owners opinion of the engine changes and also see dyno charts. Does your dealer have an '06 demo? Mine won't have them for a few shipments.
We are having an option installed next week and are scheduled for a demo car. I'm guessing it will be an '05 TSX. However, it will likely be an automatic, so it won't be a good comparison. Ours is also so new that we are trying not to spin it up too tight until we at least get the first oil change done.

That is a nice car man!! I am getting the same car in December; I can't wait! And those wipers look different than any wipers I have ever seen ... high tech.
I am convinced this car is the best you can get for the money. I am definitely going Black ext with Black int. I can't beleive that at one point I was actually thinking of going with the '06 4dr accord V6 with Navi.
Keep sending in the pics ... I can't get enough.

Makes you wonder what the hell they were thinking back in 04.
So does the updated info center now calculate MPG or do you still need the Navi to do that.

A GREAT post. I been dying to start a post about the '06 impressions but I figure not enough people actually drove one yet. Also, I guess it's hard to tell the power difference between the '06 and older models until the break in period for the new car is done. I know I won't be pushing a new car that hard this fast.
Some things I like:
That nasty stripe of chrome above the grill is gone.
The Aux input (TL owners should be jealous)
The new front bumper (I think it's more aggressive)
The wiper blade (looks cool)
Bluetooth
Some things I dont like:
The blue outlines on the instrument panel are replaced by white outlines...

Very nice, thanks for the photos. I see the CF pattern on the interior compartment covers now, couldn't tell that from the website.
Nice choice of radio stations btw =)

Yeah, I was wondering if the took the trip computer page off the nav screen now.

Three Wheelin'
I'm curious to know MPG stuff is independant of navi too. In addition, the '06 brochure makes it sound like you get voice commands (for bluetooth) without navi. I had assumed you needed navi for the voice stuff but that might not be the case.

Love all the interior features...... too bad they didn't think about these features for the 04s or 05s......
However, the exterior design still doesn't impress me all that much....
Congrats on your new baby,....

I'm wondering how the AUX input works? Do you have to buy a wire for it to connect to my ipod through the earphone input or the charging input? I hope the 04-05 A-spec back bumper fits the new 2006 back bumper.

Nice! I'd love to have the aux input, bluetooth, and upgraded navi. I'd pay good money if there was a way to upgrade. Too bad thats not they way things work...

I only got my TSX just over a month ago.....got a great deal mostly becuase it was a 6spd and the '06's were on the way...now looking at the '06 in such graphic detail it is very tempting. I really like the interior upgrades...memory seats and bluetooth in particular are great features.
Enjoy your new TSX !

Great pictures Mark, and a smart looking car. I still haven't been able to get decent pictures of mine, at least not worth posting although I won't have to now with yours up and posted.
Enjoy your ride.

It's beautiful! Thanks for posting the nice review and the pics! Now, the same question here - is that NBP? I think that the new blue colors are gorgeous in the pics. I would love to see them in person. I am not feeling the dark green though.... maybe it will look better in person.

Great post dude! I am going to LOVE my car. My CGP AT/Navi should arrive at the dealer (Grand Rapids MI) day after Thanksgiving. I'll be thankful.
Too bad I'll be out of town, won't actually be picking it up for another week, but at least I know what I'm looking forward to

I got my car from Tonkin.
The sales guys I dealt with werent too bad.
Service dept...the writer I deal with is nice, although ive seen him waay too many times now to fix bullshit problems related to careless handling of the car on their part. The lot attendents and some of the service workers arent very careful with your car when you leave it with them, which irritates the shit out of me. (Whoa! Where did THIS huge scratch come from?!) Just keep yours away from the service dept if at all possible.
