04 TSX vs. 06

I'm currently looking into picking up a 04 TSX soon. I've tried searching and googled it to try to find the differences b/t the 04 and 06. Is there anything besides the front bumper, navi improvements, and headlights? Anything to make me invest in the 06?

I test drove a 04 and was disappointed to find out that it the passenger seat was power. For a car that price it should come with power front seats.

you will not get the aux input, improved horsepower (10-15 after accounting for SAE difference, built in xm (blah), backlit steering wheel controls. there's probably some more stuff that i'm missing. I picked up an 04 6MT earlier this year and am very happy with it. I've installed an ipod adapter which works better than the aux input anyways (can use steering wheel controls).

The 06 has the power passenger seat too. 07 has the tire pressure monitoring system.

Add Bluetooth, an improved MID and different alloy wheels for the '06.

i can't find it right now but i did a started a thread when i traded in my 04 to my 06 and if you can stomache the bigger payments (not the rims like Jan so nicely pointed out ) There isn't all that much different on the inside except for the stuff like the bluetooth, the MID is really nice to have, and then the biggest difference in the pull in VTEC. There is about 10-15 more HP in the 06 that can be felt and if your going with an 5AT then you will def want that. The 06 comes with dual power seats too!

I'm sorry not familiar with MID...That would be?

I think I'm gonna have to stick with the 04 b/c of payments.

MID = Multi Information Display

It gives you info like, instant MPG, overall trip MPG on trip A and trip B, Oil %, miles left til empty, etc......nice feature to have!

Depending on how much you get an 04 for, an 06 really might not be too much more but if your tight then i can understand that! Just saying the 06 would be a better choice after having both of them. A LOT less rattles in the 06 then the 04 too!

EDIT: What are you looking for, 5AT, 6MT, navi, no navi, what?

Just asking because i found a 06, 5AT non navi with 18k miles for $26 and the same car in am 04 with 36k miles for $25. So if they are that close may as well go with the 06. I'm sure you can find an 04 for less than that but that was the first thing i saw when i checked autotrader real fast.

I'm looking for a 6MT navi would be a plus but not needed. I've come with with several results for 16995 with about 65k...All 06 are 20+k. I wouldn't mind having an auto, but I drove one and let me say it didn't feel any faster than my cousins auto 00 civic ex. That is what forces me to get the 6MT.

i would say 04 man, the other features are very nice in my opinion, my lil bro has an 06 with every feature....the only thing i regret not having in my 04 is navi. other than that, i can tell a bit of a difference in pull up top in the higher rpms, but i'm very satisfied with my car. plus you found one for a good deal, i got mine about 1.5months ago for 20k even with 26k on the clock. i'd say go for 04 and enjoy!

Taeng - That is actually a darn good price! I am just biased when it comes to buying used cars because i would hate to pay even $17k for something that has 65k miles on it when you could get a few "decent" cars for that price brand spanking new. A lot of people feel different due to the fact that they depreciate the second you drive them off the lot, but to each there own ya know! But yea, you won't find a used 06 under $20k unless it has HIGH miles and even then it will still probably be like $20 on the dot. I would say go with the 04 if that is what you want

Upgrades you get with an 06 TSX:
- XM radio (antenna on back/center rear of roof)
- Bluetooth hands free link
- Upgrade MID display, can personalize display per key fob
- Thicker steering wheel with grips at the 10 and 2 o’clock positions
- heated side mirrors
- Two position driver memory seats that adjust automatically to the driver when the door opens when the fob is used to unlock the door.
- power passenger seat
- Wider side bolsters on driver seat
- Faster Navi with restaurant guide, calendar reminder, points of interest, and 650 voice commands. 06 Navi can integrate a back up camera easier because of the DVD unit design.
- up to 10-15 extra HP with the larger intake, exhaust, higher flow cat
- Slightly revised rear tail lights starting in 06
- More angular side-marker lights
- Integrated fog lights
- No metal trim from grill on hood
- More aggressing side sills
- Low profile windshield wipers
- You would have a longer bumper-to-bumper warranty period with an 06, 4yr/50,000 miles
- Everyone’s favorite, new 9 spoke alloy wheels

Most issues/improvement areas on the 04/05 were fixed on the 06/07 (engine power, seats squeaks, electrical problems, rattles, and other Technical Service Bulletins TSB). I would go for either car because any model year is better than anything else on the road for the same money.

05 got heated mirrors that 04 didn't.
Not sure what year the power passenger seat happened - 06 I think.

Nobody's mentioned these 06 upgrades yet:
reshaped rear bumper
very slightly different exhaust tips
reshaped hood
"Acura" etched into all window glass (instead of "Honda")
revised texture on center console panels
I believe Homelink was added somewhere along the way (not sure which year)
and possibly most important (and loved unanimously by all) - new gauges

- Homelink was on 04's.
- Power passenger seat was added in 05 as was back lit radio/cruise controls on the steering wheel.
- They gauges are the same aren't they? Its the information centre in the middle that was added in 06. Not sure whom ever complained about the 04/05 gauges? They are incredible.

The gauges are almost the same, the only difference being an italicized font.

I second that...I LOVE my gauges (I have an '04) and prefer it over the italicized font of the '06. However, I would very much like to have the MID (shoulda gotten a Navi!) and I think the side sills and rear bumper of the '06+ are amazing. Front bumper not soo much but the flared look still looks good.

In Canada we get standard heated side mirrors (and low windshield washer light) even on '04s

The bumper-to-bumper warranty on my 2004 was 4yr/50,000 miles. As far as I know, there have been no changes in the warranty for Acuras during the TSX model run.

Don't forget that the 06 has lighted controls on the steering wheel, which the O4 does not.

It is the same warranty; but, the 04 will expire in 1 year compared to a 06 that will expire in 3 years (if you keep your mileage under 50K)

I do remember a few posts by people even thinking about swapping their gauge clusters for new 06 clusters. Doubt anybody ever really did it, though.

pics of 06 gauges here:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...3&page=3&pp=25

pic of 04 gauges here:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ghlight=gauges

I think the buttons on the steering wheel changed from silver to black beginning in 05.

I don't know how to describe this clearly, but the "A" logo on the steering wheel hub of 06+ is three dimensional like the "A" logo on the grille of the car - and inset into the texture of the hub. Before 06 the "A" on the steering wheel was more like a solid black disc with a chrome "A" printed on it with a shiny plastic layer on top of it.

Oh, I forgot about these:
Parchment interiors got upgraded "fake" wood in 06
Supposedly, the "fake" aluminum was upgraded in 06, too.

Floor mats were slightly revised for 06. The rear passenger side mat became secured to the floor, supposedly prevent interfering with the airbag sensors in the front seat. Don't know if there were any other associated changes.

The 06 wheels are a little lighter (about 2 lbs each)

Oh, and along with the light for the passenger airbag appearing in 06 above the hazard light button - the hazard light button and the bezel around it (the space between the two center vents) changed too. The original design followed the contours of the vent slats (and I think the button was triangular, too), where the 06 design is flat (and rectangular). Some may like the more unique design of the original design, but I think it looked awkward.
