04-05 TSX 2007 Navigation Disc Now Available

FWIW...I decided to check to see if the 2007 Navigation Disc update was available for my 05 TSX and saw that it was up on the site and it looks like they're also having a special coming soon on it too.

"2007 Update is now available.

Special sale coming soon!! Beginning 12/3/2007 and for a limited time, the new 2007 update will be offered at a discounted price of $149."

I might just have to jump on it since I'm still on version 3.40

i'm alright, i mean if the address is too new, but the street it on still existed back in 2003-04, i can have at least an estimate of where the place is. no way would i spend that much money for a DVD rom.

who knows you could trade in or sell the TSX in 3 or so years. do you want the next owner to have a new navi DVD? i rest my case.

While I won't argue that $150 (and especially the normal price of $185) is way expensive. Alpine who issues these DVD-ROM updates has to pay for the "points of interest "data as well as the mapping data. I think expecting something like this to cost $20 is pretty unrealistic. But when I see the computer software program "Microsoft's Streets and Trips" which is a computer map program that uses the same or similar data being sold for $40 to $50 that is when $185 seems very excessive. Granted Microsoft Streets and Trips can potentially run on millions and millions of PC's so they can charge less since it will likely sell a lot more than a update disc that only works on a particular NAV system. Although with free web apps like Google Maps, Yahoo Maps and even Microsofts www.live.com I really wonder if those computer programs sell like they used to.

In any case, yeah $150-$185 is pretty ridiculous. I think around $50 would be far more reasonable.

What is strange is that they aren't putting the 2007 update on sale until December 3rd. I wonder why that is?

Pricey indeed... that's why I only buy every other update. I don't use most of the features to justify updating anymore often than that.

Pricey...? That's an understatement.... considering that my Garmin Nuvi 350 has as many POI's. plus, I can add my own POI data..

AND... the "unverified" areas are essentially non-existent on the Garmin....

No, it's not strange. The 2007 disk was "available" in Oct 2006...though it probably was back-ordered until early 2007. They must have a good number left and are trying to blow them out before the 2008 Orange disk comes out. Note that the 2008 Orange disk is still pending an announced time to go on sale...

I always get confused by that. The version that came with my TSX in late April 2003 was version 3.20 so that must of have been released in 2002 (the number after the . being the year of the database I guess?). I also have 3.30F (2004) 3.40C (2005). I skipped 3.50 (2006) and bought 3.60 (2007) which is what I am running with now. I'm not sure if I am going to get 2008 or not. I should try and eBay some of my older ones.

I just ordered the disc. I am upgrading from 3.20 and so I can't wait! They are sending me the v3.70 (2008) for the $149 price, not the 2007 disc.
