It looks good!! I want to do the same thing with my 06.

Why is the image reversed like a rear view mirror? Are all aftermarket rear-view cameras have the same type of image?

06 should be much easier to do this.

Hey offsight204,

On your 04 TSX do u have to wait for the nag screen to go away when you put it in reverse to see the image on screen?

I see you screwed the camera into the trim there. Did you do anything in addition to the holes to prevent water/rust?

the actual backup camera has like a tape. i just put it together with the tape and then screwed the screws in. so no water will go in because of the tape. and i did not touch the metal i just screwed plastic.

Ah. so that trim is plastic then? And you put screws into the plastic trim piece. Yeah?

Not unless you put the power source somewhere other than the reverse light. I know most people, including myself, connected the cams power cable to the reverse light so that it's powered anytime you put the car in reverse.

If you have an 06+, you just need a camera and some small change to build an adapter. There's some instructions floating around somewhere...the 06+ navi is the same used in some of the other acura line up which comes with a backup camera, so we already have the functionality.

I just bought my back-up cam on Ebay from member swm902. I'll be installing it in the coming weeks. I'll take some pictures to supplement the instruction that's already out there for 06-08 model.

I too just bought one of these cameras shown in this thread.
I too will take pictures and such in case another write up with
an anal amount of detail is needed. When I do pictorials and such
I tend to make them very detailed. The more details the better really.
This mod is a pretty a easy one on the 06-08 years though.

The more write ups the better! I'd love to see how you all are mounting the cameras and fishing the wires through the trim.

I just got one of these too. She only had three available
I hope making the adapter is easy. Everyone says it is, but I wish the source to buy all the stuff and the specifics had a few more pictures. Our cam doesn't have an extra long rca cable (just a female end). So you'll need a long double ended male rca cable to go with it. I plan on doing the install in two weeks once I have the parts for the adapter. Do you guys know how to temporarily power the camera (12v) w/out having to attach it to the car's power supply? I want to see how the camera works by using its rca to my TV. How can I power it?

Guys I need to purchase a long rca cable to go with my backup cam. What length worked best for you all? 3ft? 6ft? 12ft?

Uh...I don't think the boo was referring to you. I think he was saying "boo..."; to expressed that he is bummed because he has a 2004 (vs 2006 or better so he doesn't have to buy the DOM unit).

Jottle, We both bought the same camera and I can tell you it's really easy to install. Just make a harness according to the DIY thread here
Remove trunk lid lining accoard to DIY thread here

Mount the camera, plug and play. After the initial setup, it just took less than 10 mins to put it all together. I was going to take pictures of my installation but I didn't want to insult the intelligence of the aspire DIYers. One tip I can give you is, when you run your wire through the license plate light from the outside, you will need to pry loose the painted plastic strip that guards the lights. Use a taped flat head screwdriver.

Thanks. I'm still debating whether to screw the camera into the plastic strip or not.

Is the navi in the 06+ tsx the same as the tl? I have an 06 tl and was hoping i could just make the wiring harness instead of having to buy dom's unit.
