Are these rims to big? 18x8 for my TL
Got these nice rims for barter on Craigslist. I still like them, but due to subtle incompatibilities I keep thinking how I should've done my due diligence first or consulted this forum. I submit my situation for your expert opinions and advice:
Rims: Omni 18 x 8 ; Bolt pattern 5 x 120mm
on 98 TL 3.2 UA3
I measured my original 16" OEM rims and thickness is 7.5". Also the bolt pattern is different. In order to fit them I will have to use bolt pattern adapters:
http://www.adaptitusa.com/index.asp
Rim stores told me the bolt pattern on the Omni's are for BMW only. So before i buy these adapters (any comments on them?) I wanted to know it the rims being 8" wide will be a problem?
Here's a link of the rimz as i dont know why AZ doesn't just give me a browse to button to insert my images, but i digress....thanks guys!!!

I had an 8" wide rim with a +35 offset (my MOMO's) on the car with very minor rubbing issues. I'm not too sure I would spend $50 per corner just to get a set of wheels to fit, though, and one big thing is that these pattern changers are pushing the wheels at LEAST 25mm out. To counter that, you would have to run a wheel with an offset of +65 to keep them somewhat closer to stock. Are you sure you want to deal with that? If you don't get a higher offset wheel to counter these spacers, your wheels would stick out like a go kart.
BTW, one of the only 5 x 120 rims I'd want to use are the rears from a particular Mercedes. Angle-y like hell and it gives off the nice deep-dish impression.
~Cheers~

Well I'm trying to work with the wheels I have- I'll have to make a judgment call as to whether I can live with the wheels protruding a bit (I usually love that look, it looks aggressive! But will I be ridiculed by enthusiasts?). I just love these rims. Don't you?
I don't know the wheels offset - is it marked on the tires? ( FRONT Tires: "245/40ZR18" ; BACK: "235/50ZR18" )
If I reduce the back tires to 245 will i still have to roll back my fenders?
Does rolling back the fenders make the car look any less attractive?

The wording on this doesn't make sense right? 235/245/etc refers to how wide they are? concurrently the higher the number the lower profile they are too right?

the first number is width(higher number=wider tire, lower number=skinnier tire), the second is profile(lower number=thinner tire, higher=fatter tires), the third is the rim diameter(rim size. your running 18's so you need 18)
I have 18x8 up front with 215/40/18 tires, 18x9 rear 225/40/18 tires.

anyone dare to put 245s? yes i know they'll stick out but nobody like that look?? don't think the fenders sexy curves would compliment the look? will it even fit?
if this all too wierd, whats the largest treadwidth with a safe fit?

Krayzie-the main reason i ask is because thats the size tire the wheels have on now
i havn't done it yet but im gonna say fk it tomorrow and go for it w/the bolt adapters and all
ill be the guinea pig
since like Go90go says they Will stick out 25mm/1" <(as stated on website too), will it help if i reduce a possible 225 to 215 to avoid rubbing issues?
