Rubbing issues with 20s

Hi. Im new to this site and cant yet post pics of my ride. I purchaced a 97 3.2 tl from an elderly women with only 63k miles on the clock about 6 months ago. It is super clean well maintained. The 1st thing i did was to order rims and tint the windows. Im running 20x8 giovanni coolIIs and with extra weight in the back it rubs when i hit bumps. Is anyone having the same problem? Is there anyway to stiffen the rear suspention? Im no body man but i wondered if i could role the lip in the inner fender if that wold work as well.... Please hit me up with any suggestions...

Welcome to the forums...Nice pick up with only 63K miles, sweet..

Now about 20's. The biggest size that looks nice on this car is 18 and that is with some rubbing issues IMO. To get rid of that you can either choose rims and tires around 18x7.5 OR rolling fenders is the only way to go. With 20's its hard to solve rubbing problem unless you raise ride height...

Thanks tmnhs31, i know it was a rare find. I like my 20s, i have a friend with a 96 2.5 running 18x7.5 and i like the bigger rims better, as long as they arnt ghetto. my tires are nitto 225/35r20 the rubbing snt bad but i live on back country roads and with someone in the back seat it hits. i def dont want to raise it, im thinking about trying to trim the inner fender well myself. anyone done this mod??? i would love some advice....

I like the wheel but I just can't do 20s. I would run no bigger than 17s with a drop. To each their own.

Anyway have you rolled your fenders or cut some tabs?

Thanks i like the wheels too, it took a while to find the right style and offset so it didn look ghetto, i was going for an elegant luxury look. I havnt done anything yet just been dealing with it. my wife drives it everyday usually by herself. its only an issue with 3 ppl in it. Its sitting at stock height right now, im def not going to raise it. Im going to try to trim the inner fender if it works i would like to try and drop it like an inch all the way around maybe even adjust the camber if needed.

I think that some rolled fenders will fix this issue.

Ditto on the above. Or else, get a body kit, and do it with a lot of banging....works the same way...fender roller is thge quickest, cleanest way.

I had the same issue with only 17's on my car about 2 weeks ago. I had 17x7.5 wheels with 225/50/17 Falkem ZE512's and noticed rubbing on sharp long-lasting curves. It got worse when I had my best friend and his girl friend sit in my back seat. He only weighs 145 and his girlfriend about 110. I took the set back to Discount Tires and they replaced the tires to 215/50/17 which was enough of a difference to stop the rubbing. My car is stock height by the way. In your pic, the wheels look way too big but whatever floats your boat. As suggested above, you might want to try a fender roller, a smaller series tires, or just selling them and getting smaller wheels if the rubbing bugs you. It sure as heck bugged me.
