Ground Control 3.2 users.... Shock question Please help

Alright everyone. Im curious. I have ground controls and i had ordered koni struts months ago for a 94-97 accord.

Well after realizing some assfuck cut my 80 dollar steel brakelines the other day, I figured it was time to battle the heat and set aside some time to put the struts on..

What im worried about is ride height.. Is anyone out there whos using koni struts and ground controls having issues with how high the car sits? I mean these struts are brand new i dont want to use them if id be better off with something else.

What is everyone running as far as shocks? Im contemplating getting legend stuff and running the suspension forks just so i dont have to worry about ride height unless it wont be an issue.. As far as the rear shit goes, im not too concerned with it right now.. I already have new rear stuff on the car..

Thanks for any imput..

Basicly Im curious what everyones running as far as shocks in the front of 3.2's that are compatible with ground controls that wont sit way too low.

TIA

Undyroos has that setup, and his car looked fine, here's an old pic:

His car is the one in the back, mine's in the front. Pretty old pic, hehe.

~Cheers~

well i did. The struts I got from tlxracer are blown as hell. I bought konis to replace them with.

My concern was in using the accord front shit, having to swap the perches from front to rear. My rear collars have rubbed my springs and the threads on top are worn out.. So...

If i swapped the front collars to the rear and vice versa i would not be able to raise the collars to the top.

I was going to get new perches but opted not to. Basicly i wanted to replace the struts with something super stiff that would go in there..

Also my car has 17s on it now, and will have these 19 inch works on it before long. So i didnt want anything super dumped that wont allow me clearance.

heres what he told me

i used to have gc coilovers on stock shocks but then i blew one of them so i got the koni yellows. i called gc and they said to use 94-97 accord sleeves and perches with the new shocks and to reuse the 3.2tl springs i got with the gc kit.

i installed everything as is and the front was waaaay lower than the back even with the perch all the way up. so i moved the c-clips up to the highest slot in the shocks and swapped the sleeves front to back and vice versa since the rear sleeve is longer than the front sleeve and that fixed the problem. you can also order 4 rear (longer) sleeves from gc instead. in the pics i posted, the rear can't go any higher, i am at the top of the sleeve.

the only real modification that you need to do to use koni yellows is to bore out the front upper strut mounts to accept the 12mm shock shaft...

definitely go for ground control and koni just use 94-97 accord shocks and sleeves with gc 3.2tl springs and you will have no problem

goodluck!

how much are we talking to order just the threaded collars?

hey Colt45,

If you don't want something super low, buy 4 rear 94-97 accord GC sleeves and perches made for konis and you'll be able to raise you car more (make sure the c-clips are in the highest grooves). I'm sure you could call GC and ask them if they make longer sleeves in case you think you won't get enough clearance with the accord sleeves.

In that pic that Go90go posted, I have the front accord sleeve in the rear and the rear accord sleeve in the front. The back is at the highest it can go and the front can go higher.

hope the info helps, good luck with the project!

I just talked to ground control on the phone. Both the 94-97 accord and 96-98 acura tl use a threaded 6 inch collar on the rear.

They have a model that has the same threaded collar diameter except its 7 inches long. I ordered 4 of them for 100 shipped. Worsdt case senario, they are too long, then i just cut them. Id rather be too long than not enough.

I will just use the 94+ accord koni yellows on front and rear and use these 7 inch threaded collars on both. If they are too long at least i can cut them down which i doubt ill need to do..

I assume this is all i will need to do to make them work.

The only other thing id like to figure out is, if any other honda or car shares a similar bolt pattern to the upper pillow mount? If so id like to use something off another car so i can eliminate the stock top hat with the shitty rubber bushings. I had delrin ones but they were way too abusive and with the struts the way they are they got fucked up.

What do you drive your car with the struts set on bro? How stiff?

im sure ill end up with it all the way stiff and wanting stiffer spring rates.

Id really like to build or get a BIG rear swaybar.. I think with the wheelbase and good suspension, the car could handle incredible.
