17" 2G wheel problems
17" 2G wheel problems
Hey folks,
I just installed 2nd Gen 17" (5 wide star, 02-03 model) on my 97 3.2 and the car is pulling to the left. I was on stock wheels before (205 65 15) and the car tracked straight. I've got 36psi in the 17" tires (205/50/17) and there is no fit issue with the wheels. Also, the wheels were just balanced and the mechanic said the rims looked straight during balancing. Here's a stock pic of the wheels:

I really don't think it's an alignment issue though I could be wrong. FYI, the handling is noticeably crisper, and the ride is only marginally rougher. Road noise is also up but not too bad.
Anyone have any ideas why it's pulling left, and did anyone put similar wheels on theirs?

i dont know what could be wrong, but first gens look hott on the second gen type s wheels ... they almost look like the legend on the second gen type s wheels, which in my opinion looks better than the type s wheels being on the second gen which was the car they were designed for

Sure, it could be alignment, but it was tracking straight before so I'm confused. Also don't want to spend 70$ for them to tell me the alignment is fine.

Some times when you remount wheels, it can cause an alignment issue. I had that with my car last week when i had my tires rotated. see if you can find a shop who might be able to help/tell you whether it's an alignment issue or not. Or even worse, what if the wheel is bent :o

The tires are definitely worn and some showed minor signs of shark teeth on the outside, indicating the alignment was off on its previous car, but not so bad as to cause this much pulling.
