If you have any signs of hesitations or shudder, or anything related to symptoms of clogging tranny, then absolutely. Most of us who have done this, have noticed immediate improvement or resolution to previous issues. Mine had a shudder at 60kph, or 40 mph. After the fluid/filter change, it was gone! One of the best 3h (done slowly by a newbie) DIY.

Im not ragging on anyone that says Z1 is the only way to go, but I have tried really hard to find someone online or in person that's had any problem with their trans because they used something other than Z1.
There is a 24 page (and counting) thread here on acurazine in the Third Gen TL section devoted to owners switching to Redline atf and LOVING it. Not a single negative post that I can find. Although its not the same transmission we have, its still proof that Z1 is NOT the only way to go.
I use D4 and it made a great improvement it the "cleanliness" of my cars shifting. It also sounds better at low speeds; much less tranny whine. And the fact that it stays clean so much longer...I am sold.
Happy Draining!
